So it has been a month since I have posted about my CMA journey and since that posting things in my life really got crazy! 🤪 2 Non-local Dance Competitions For My Daughter 👯‍♂️ Easter ✝️ Accepting A New Position 🛳️ Moving 1,435 Miles 🚚 Yep I drove with 2 kids and 3 cats 1,435 miles to our new home. Just one overnight stop! The kids and the kitties were so good I was incredibly impressed!! 💕 Packing very quickly to move 1,435 miles away (we were not really packed when I accepted the offer for my new position) – Husband & 3 Kids… not an easy packing job!! 🤪🤣🥺 So to say that I’ve had a setback in my studies for the CMA is an UNDERSTATEMENT 🥺 The good thing about unpacking is we can do it at our own pace… so now that I am here and we are slowly getting settled into the new place I am able to get back on that study train 🚂 I may need to adjust my estimated test date. Which I didn’t want to do, but I also need to be realistic and don’t want to get too overwhelmed and make sure I am really ready when I go to sit for that exam. The best part about this #hockstudypath is that it easily adjusts depending on how much (or in my case this past month) how little you have been able to study. Plus there are wonderful quizzes I can take to refresh what I have learned before my setback and get back up to speed. What's the most fun thing you've done at work? (Playing your annual April Fool's prank on Bob from Accounting doesn't count.) For me, I had a ton of fun working on the A/B testing ebook that we just released. I really enjoyed working with Danielle Torrie, Banafshe Salehi, Jorge Puebla, and the rest of the team as we put this project together. CPE Review 𝗖𝗣𝗔 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 https://lnkd.in/gitsa8cb 𝗧𝗟; 𝗗𝗥 - When it’s late in the game and you need someone to run out the clock. May provide some productive minutes, but probably shouldn’t be your starter. CPA Academy provides both 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 and paid CPE courses. Signing up is easy, and within minutes you’ll have access to both self-study and live webinar CPE. Registering for courses takes little effort; for self-study CPE, just click on the course you want to complete and you can start the video right away. There is a convenient filter feature that allows you to toggle between free and paid courses. I noted around 𝟯𝟬 free self-study courses, and many more free live webinars. I always search for technical accounting CPE on every platform I use – I want a place to go for accounting questions aside from the codification. Targeted searches for technical CPE produced 𝗻𝗼 results in the free category, however, there were paid options available. Most of the paid options appeared to be around $30 per credit hour (can be purchased A la carte). Keep in mind that the free courses are almost always being presented by some company with something to offer, so be prepared for a heavy dose of 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. This may be helpful if you are interested in learning more about a particular software or other platform before going all in – you can learn about it and earn CPE. Production quality is 𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 (picture a Zoom call or Teams meeting) and the instructors were fine. I’ll put it this way, I didn’t tell my wife about any of the courses I took (you can decide what that means lol). When logged in, I can see my total earned credit hours, categorized by delivery method. There is a feature to 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 all of my credits to a CSV file, which is nice. 𝗖𝗣𝗔 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁: Nothing to write home about. Save your stamp. 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝘀: Just the two (live webinars and self-study webinars). 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Was I inspired? No, but I also wasn’t asleep. 𝗨𝗫: Sort of like a Honda Accord. Not feature rich, but gets the job done. Feel free to debate my review – if I missed the mark on something I’m open to conversation. A mini story of why I do what I do… & why I LOVE it! 🤗❤️ It’s a balance of math & emotion babyyy! I met with some clients 👨‍👩‍👧 this week who are ready to begin the process of buying their first home here in Santa Barbara. When they came in they thought they were ready to act now, but by the time they left, they realized they are only in the beginning stages of their journey. During their meeting with me they learned about the most challenging parts of buying a home: ⭐️Finding the "right" property ⭐️All the fancy paperwork & lingo ⭐️Truly understanding the process from beginning to post closing ⭐️Saving for a down payment or exploring DPA programs By the time the meeting was over they were SOOO appreciative of our attention to details: ⭐️Their goals - lifestyle & financial ⭐️Their concerns & priorities ⭐️Their overall timeline & most importantly their want to establish a relationship with their team & not just complete a transaction. My next installment in Accessibility as a First-Mover Advantage for VRMs (full article linked below)... Market Opportunity: First, let’s define the “accessible” market considering multiple areas of disability. Most of us consider “accessible” as mobility restrictions - IE wheelchair. To begin, we need to expand mobility to include not only wheelchairs, but also walkers, crutches and canes. But mobility is only one area of disability for us to consider when considering the market opportunity, AND when preparing homes to welcome guests with disabilities. The rough estimate of the disability market is 27% of the population, and growing. Why would the demographic of people with disabilities be growing? Improved diagnosis technology. Environmental exposure to chemicals. And Baby Boomers. The aging population has a wide range of disabilities - it’s not easy aging. The aging Boomers are one of the largest demographic shifts we will see in our lifetimes. Many of your guests, and your homeowners, fall into this aging demographic.
