“I've had the pleasure of working with Dan as my mentor for the past six months as part of a PM to PM mentorship program at Google. I can confidently say that he is an exceptional product manager, leader, and mentor. His 20+ years of experience in product was evident throughout all of our sessions together - Dan was able to guide me through complex scenarios and advise me on a variety of topics such as strategic thinking, communication, planning, prioritization and how best to deliver value to customers in a cross-functional team environment. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from Dan and I would highly recommend him as a leader or mentor in any product management context - he would be a highly valuable asset to any team.”

You're a startup owner looking to streamline team collaboration. What tools should you use?
First pick your tech stack. If you build on Azure, then you should leverage Office365 for email/doc storage & Microsoft Teams for collaboration. But if you build on AWS or GoogleCloud, then you should use Gmail for email and then add Slack for chat. Next decide where you're putting your Tasks. Most teams prefer Atlassian's Jira for tasks (because of extensive customization, workflow, and filtering), but smaller teams often choose something that's lightweight like Asana, Monday, or Linear. Don't skimp on spend with collaboration tools. A single person on your team is likely making 83 cents per minute or more. Every minute you waste is costing you 83cents. So if a tool saves a team member 12 minutes in a month, it's easily worth $10/month.

While I was attending UF's College of Architecture, I witnessed a new piece of software - Autodesk's AutoCAD - and saw it's power to disrupt an entire industry. I was deeply inspired by the revolutionary nature of the Drafting-to-CAD transition. I changed my major to Computer Science so that I could change the world too. All dates of attendance reflect part-time attendance while working full time to pay for my self-financed education.
