  • Dynamic Routing under Extreme Cognitive Jamming Environments

    Issued US 9088903

[0004] A system and methods for dynamic routing under extreme cognitive jamming environments are presented. Jammer signals emitted by a cognitive jammer such as a network protocol-aware cognitive jammer are scanned for at a router node in an ad-hoc wireless network, and jammer behaviors are detected, classified, and characterized based on signal characteristics and a historical pattern of the jammer signals. A network dynamic pattern caused by the network protocol-aware cognitive jammer is…

A network dynamic pattern caused by the network protocol-aware cognitive jammer is classified based on the detected jammer behaviors, and dynamic routing strategies of the first router node are adapted to achieve robust data delivery based on the network behavioral pattern. Data packets sent by the router node are routed to avoid nodes and routes that are affected by the jammer signals.

  • System and method for providing bandwidth signaling across cryptographic boundaries in a network

    Issued US 7,961,624

The use of Protocol Enhancing Proxies (PEPs) and HAIPE encryption has traditionally been mutually exclusive. IP-layer encryption renders the upper layers, such as TCP, unavailable to the PEP. By integrating the IP layer encryption into the modem and using additive or multiplicative increase and decrease signals as bandwidth notification, signaling is provided across the cryptographic boundary to support the use of a bandwidth aware PEP in a network protected by IP-layer encryption.

  • Method and Hybrid System for Authenticating Communications

    Issued US 7,552,321

One embodiment of the present invention is a hybrid authentication system (10) for securing communication. In this embodiment, the system (10) includes a distributed authentication infrastructure (12) with a series of nodes (16) in communication with each other. These nodes (16) are intended to perform a series of functions, one of these functions being the authentication of other nodes. The system further includes a centralized authentication infrastructure (14), which is later integrated into…

In this embodiment, the system (10) includes a distributed authentication infrastructure (12) with a series of nodes (16) in communication with each other. These nodes (16) are intended to perform a series of functions, one of these functions being the authentication of other nodes. The system further includes a centralized authentication infrastructure (14), which is later integrated into the distributed authentication infrastructure (12) after the distributed authentication infrastructure (12) has been established. The centralized authentication infrastructure (14) includes a central server (22) coupled to the nodes (16) for verifying the identification of the nodes (16) and/or granting permission to those nodes (16).

  • Priority-based dynamic resource allocation method and apparatus for supply-demand systems

    Issued US 7,054,936

A computer network uplinking system, method, and computer program product are presented for allocation of network resources. A controller tier includes a controller node 100 having a processor 102, a memory 104, and a communication interface 106. Also, an uplinking tier includes uplinking nodes 108, with a processor 110, a memory 112, and a communication interface 114. The nodes 108 communicate the controller node 100 in frames. Current and next frames are represented as K and K+1. The nodes…

The nodes 108 request reservations from the controller node 100 based on the data each needs to transmit. The controller node 100 generates a control signal based on the reservation requests to assign slots of a information subframe of the next frame K+1 to the nodes 108 based on the priority allocated to the node 108 and the data each needs to transmit. The nodes 108 then transmit in their assigned slots.
