The Florence features a unique dining opportunity in northeastern San Diego. Kilroy Realty Corp. owns the three-building Kilroy Sabre Springs business campus that houses The Florence, which sits in a highly saturated residential area. Kilroy partnered with Legal Restaurants Group (LRG) to develop the restaurant in the hopes of enticing commercial building tenants to remain on site during meal periods and to serve neighboring residents and the surrounding community.
Replacing a cafeteria that served building tenants exclusively, The Florence includes a new front-of-the-house kitchen that merges with an existing back-of-the-house kitchen, in addition to a redesigned dining area, a new bar and a cafe. The project team also created an outdoor atrium that provides a seamless transition from the interior to the exterior space, which staff can subdivide into eight areas for private events. The atrium also features a boathouse pergola and a firepit lounge.

Andalusia Design is a part of the Creek Show Exhibit in Austin this November! This show features immersive art spectacles along Waller Creek. Installation Name: Alluvial Design Team Leads: Plume Design Lab – Clay Odom & Kory Bieg Fabricator: Andalusia Design Artist Statement: ‘Alluvial’ references water flowing over land and registers the impacts generated by a confluence of layers, surfaces, and finishes engaging in the physical, cultural, and environmental contexts around it. It is a line transformed by its surroundings. These influences add definition to the line by introducing spatial and formal eddies, ripples, and surface graphics. To realize ‘Alluvial’, we are creating a network of 3D tiles made of laser-cut, light gauge folded steel. The tiles are assembled into a perforated 3D surface that responds to and challenges the simplicity of the overall form. Lighting is integrated behind the perforated surface causing a diffuse and veiled effect, countering the sharp lines of the metal form.

I started SJS STUDIOS INC. ,a boutique architecture firm, in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. The idea was to create a firm with a studio culture, based on collaboration, learning and mentorship, so I quickly searched for a space that inspired this concept. As an introvert by nature, I do value solitude, but I feel strongly that there is so much more to be gained by being immersed by other colleagues and collaboraters, because that is where the learning moments happen! Description: New online tools allow architects to set “whole life carbon” reduction goals and explore strategies at the beginning of a project when data is scarce but the potential for carbon emissions reduction is high. This session reviews how architects can use these tools during pre-design to chart a course to decarbonization, present the most impactful low-carbon design strategies to clients, and carry these strategies through the project life cycle.

Or perhaps the upholstery and wall color are the same. This goes far beyond an accent wall. It’s more of a monochromatic color explosion.
