So may possibilities for the Sentry with the OKSI target/alert system: The Sentry is an AI-enabled remote weapon system, which can “autonomously scan, detect, classify, track, and report any threat,” such as enemy combatants, vehicles, or drones. From there, the user takes control and must turn off a physical and digital safety integrated into the system before engaging the target, ensuring there is a human in the loop aspect and that the Sentry does not fire on its own. Onyx said that the system was designed to be a multi-functional “force multiplier” that provides “an additional set of eyes and weapon on target when you need it most.” OKSI + Onyx Industries

I like the idea but how do the rockets get there? Is it a “load on” at port idea and then emplace for launch or will there be a ferry of sorts? I wonder what the sea state limitations would be on rocket delivery. I have some port infrastructure ideas that could make this a reality but this concept begs a lot of logistics questions… Honestly, I am more interested in the other end of this, the recovery/reception of logistics packages on the other side of the globe. Let’s go Army Watercraft! You need to get into the future fight and provide better options for Commanders.

Thrust chambers have historically used multiple materials to optimize weight, thermal, and structural performance, and now we have solutions to further optimize using additive manufacturing. Through the Rapid Analysis and Manufacturing Propulsion Technology (RAMPT) project, our cross-agency, industry, and academia team transformed thrust chamber assembly (TCA) design and manufacturing. We integrated various AM processes, allowing for multiple alloys and unique internal features, and added a carbon fiber composite overwrap. The chamber itself was built with laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) GRCop-42, a multi-alloy manifold interface was deposited using laser powder directed energy deposition (LP-DED), and a NASA HR-1 nozzle was directly built onto the chamber with LP-DED. The entire assembly was then composite overwrapped with advanced high thermal gradient resins, eliminating some joints and achieving a 40% weight reduction. We recently completed successful hot-fire testing of the integrated RAMPT technology. It's been an honor to work with this innovative team. Great job, everyone! Ad astra. I cannot stress how critical it is that the United States and Allies have the ability to rapidly deliver interoperable, end to end security solutions for the space domain. True Anomaly’s multi-launch agreement with Firefly Aerospace does just that. Future access to multiple orbits, on a moment’s notice, provides optionality for unprecedented speed and flexibility when responding to threats on orbit. #SpaceSecurity #NationalSecurity

Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) is seeking industry feedback for a “Swarm Carrier” uncrewed aircraft system capable of launching from a C-130 and deploying drones of it own, according to a new notice published Wednesday. AFSOC eventually plans to seek input on drones in sizes between Group 2 and Group 3, Pentagon parlance for small- to mid-size UAS. One drone would be a Group 2 intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) drone, which could be internally carried and launched by the Group 3 “Swarm Carrier.” The Swarm Carrier itself should be capable of launching as a palletized effect from a C-130. And a separate Group 3 drone would be “signature managed” — denoting stealth qualities that could hide it from detection — and deployed from a Group 5 UAS, the largest drone class, to act as a command node for a swarm and relay data back from a contested or denied environment.

I have so many thoughts and opinions here...here's a few: 1. There are (should be) many types of technology transition, least common of which is direct to use/deployment, most are valid - only this least common one really gets fanfare, maybe that should change 2. You get what you measure and reward, be sure to measure and reward what you want to get - labs in general are not currently rewarded or punished based on transition, maybe that should change 3. Be sure you know what you want, there is a law of gravity which is the inverse relationship between technical risk and transition-ability, if you want more transitions, and you incentivize them, you are going to get less risk (smaller bets) - set the goal appropriate to the organizations 4. Those who build can't sell, those who sell can't build (except for rare unicorns like Dan Patt), if you make builders focus on selling, you're going to end up with a lot of wasted effort - put the right people on the team I respect Ms. Shyu, I'm sure she knows all this.
