How can you take advantage of emerging trends in risk management?
A risk maturity framework acknowledges that all risk cannot be eliminated but can be managed with varying degrees of rigor. Effective risk management not only helps assess and quantify the risk but then pegs the organization’s capability of corralling the risk and identifies the steps that need to be taken to improve effectiveness. Having nascent or world class maturity depends on the risk appetite of the organization. As in all things, it’s a journey to get from Point A to Point B. Effective RM helps navigate the enterprise along this path to maturity. I like this framework because it’s a more constructive way to communicate risk findings back to the business.

What are some effective risk response strategies and techniques?
No business can be successful by eliminating all risk. The best manage risks effectively by monitoring risk drivers over time and ensuring management actions are in line with accepted risk tolerances. In a lot of cases, risks are evergreen but attention spans are short. So, it’s key to keep the top risks top of mind for leaders and drive accountability for committed risk mitigation activities that can be measured for effectiveness.

I have the privilege of representing victims of domestic violence navigate the judicial system so that they can obtain protective restraining orders. In a small way, this helps them regain their sense of security so that they can focus on rebuilding their lives free from fear. I'm able to do this with the great support from LinkedIn and the mentorship from the Pro Bono Project's staff.
