You’re a management consultant. How can you model data to optimize your client’s business?
Some other considerations that may impact data modeling efforts include Risk, Compliance, Data Security and even technology. Important questions: What Regulatory Compliance criteria applies to the data you are modeling? What data security considerations apply to the data in the model? What technology may be considered for processing the data in your model? These considerations may impact how your data should be organized especially in consideration of Cloud computing and/or microservice architectures. While these are typically addressed further during the technical engineering of a solution, these important factors can impact data model efficiencies and effectiveness and can save you time if considered earlier in your modeling efforts.

What are the most effective ways to manage costs when working with big data in hybrid environments?
While it's certainly important to manage the proper storage options, this goes hand in hand with having a proper data aging strategy and automated governance protocol where it makes sense. One of the most common cost overruns is data hoarding. 1) Categorize data to align with your legal/compliance requirements to identify required storage time limits. 2) Data Science teams should be able to clearly define the business value of the rest of the data you store for analytics purposes and set a proper data aging strategy. 3) Set a reasonable data purging strategy aligned to legal, compliance, and data science needs. Data stored for data science purposes depreciates over time, set reasonable purge requirements based on business value versus cost.
