We needed a creative partner for our pack concept initiative Genuine Awesomeness™, so we teamed up with ThoughtMatter, a New York strategic branding and design studio committed to #workworthdoing. The team, led by Samantha Barbagiovanni and Diana Ross-Gotta, pushed us to think about the possibilities of frozen food. Frozen veggies provide access to healthy food for people who don’t have the resources to stock up at farmer’s market in peak season. Frozen at the peak of freshness, veggies can give anyone nutrients at any time of the year, and for a considerably affordable price. Out of the frozen aisle, ThoughtMatter cooked up the idea of Vegetable Justice, a concept brand that’s “frozen for the people.” Because delicious food should be a right, not a privilege. Finding inspiration in vintage protest signs, ThoughtMatter collaborated with our team on a design world that came to life in a poster aesthetic with a graphic vibe, matte paper feel and bright colors to stand out on shelf. "In partnering with Cog, we were excited to use the Genuine Awesomeness platform to create a brand that disrupts a stagnant CPG category by designing with social change and justice in mind. We freed the pack of bland, stock imagery of frozen veg and instead whole-heartedly leaned into our activism roots. Bold typography, colorways, and imagery demand your attention through a dual-pack, dual-facing structure inspired by protest posters.
