Although upstream investment has declined sharply over the past year, and is set to do so again in 2021, ongoing demand for oil and gas will necessitate an increase in the near future. Without sufficient investment, a reduced supply of oil and gas could lead to greater market volatility and higher prices, slowing the global economic recovery and jeopardizing energy security, and international goals.
