  • UX CAREER MAKEOVER: Which of the Fab Five are you?

    This project turned into a talk that I co-presented with my colleague Diane DeSeta at the UX
    Hustle summit in Atlanta on the five personas to be found in the User Experience world. We walked the 'UX talk' by taking the UX practice of persona development and turning it on ourselves as practioners for the purposes of self-discovery, self-awareness and professional development.

    The State Farm Mobile App won three awards in the 2020 year’s annual Webby Award contest. State Farm was nominated in the categories of Financial Services/Banking and Services & Utilities. For Services & Utilities, we were selected by the judges as the best app! We also won People’s Voice in both categories, beating out 4 other top-notch competitors in each.

    Hermes Creative Awards

    The State Farm Mobile App (SFma) has been recognized by Hermes Creative Awards for their outstanding work. For the second consecutive year, SFma was awarded Platinum in the Mobile App category. In this year’s Hermes Creative Awards 2020 competition there were over 6,000 entries from the United States, Canada and dozens of other countries. Receiving Platinum, the highest level achievable, means that State Farm is in the top 15% of winners, scoring 92 out of 100.

    o “strong and clean design, great usability, bringing a lot of needed functions into one place for a user to manage”
    o “I can see that there is a lot of work that has gone behind understanding the true requirements. There is a very innovative way to capture as much details about an incident right from the phone, thereby quickly adding all the relevant information for faster claim processing. Furthermore, billing integration helps users to pay their bills right from the phone. Also, various workflows/user journeys are well thought out and executed. The User Interface is eye-pleasing and user experience is also well defined with proper structure/navigation. Overall, this is a great example of how engineering meets customer expectations meets design.”
