Subsequent efforts and ongoing focus yielded an opportunity to write a $2 million grant through the U.S. Department of Labor, to implement a re-training program for individuals throughout the central Utah regions, who were displaced by employers moving offshore. This program was successfully funded to support the retraining of technology-oriented professionals, as they shift their pursuits toward cyber security, which is one of the fastest growing sectors of technology, both in Utah and throughout the U.S. Part of the support for this project came from the National Security Agency's construction of its largest Secure Data Center, which is located 10 miles from the UVU campus.
