Some exciting but bittersweet news: Multi is joining OpenAI! First I want to thank everyone for their support over the past years. Especially our users. It was a fun adventure, and a real privilege building with you. But also all you friends and advisors on LinkedIn. I asked a great many favors of you! As for why: Multi, and Remotion before that, were thought experiments: What if desktop computers were inherently multiplayer? What if the operating system placed people on equal footing to apps? Recently, we’ve been increasingly asking ourselves how we should work with computers. Not _on_ or _using_ computers, but truly _with_ computers. With AI. We believe it’s one of the most important product questions of our time. We think OpenAI is the best place to work on that problem. Unfortunately, this means we’re sunsetting Multi. We’ve closed new team signups, and currently active teams will be able to use the app until July 24, 2024, after which we’ll delete all user data. If you need help or more time finding a replacement, DM me. We’re happy to suggest alternatives depending on what exactly you loved about Multi, and we can also grant extensions on a case by case basis. In the meantime, we can't wait to show you what we're up to next. Changelog: Push Action items to Linear Multi captures action items during sessions. Now, track them with a single click. We'll clean up the title for you, then you flesh out the details in Linear's streamlined UI. This is actually quite different from how most issue tracker integrations look. Not to name names, but most of the time integrations: - are just HTML forms inferior to the destination's first class UX - require auth Thankfully, Linear supports `/new` deeplinks on desktop and web, which let us quickly take the user to the right place, without auth. I wish more tools supported that!

Simple but good Multi changelog today: Images in Chat You can now post images to session chat, which is a great way to quickly share design inspiration and more. To rapidly integrate ideas, you can also copy text out of images thanks to QuickLook. https://lnkd.in/eG9aBkTY

As of today, Multi can actually do some of your work for you! Have a conversation, then let Multi draft all your followups. In theory we had this a few weeks ago, but our outputs didn't quite get to the details, or might meander off topic. We just shipped a new AI pipeline for Summaries, Questions & Drafts; now Multi gets the details and formats right! It was also fun to migrate over to Anthropic's Claude, which we found better at handling "needle in a haystack" problems. Changelog: Raycast Extension, Powered by AppleScript After non-stop feature requests since launch, I'm excited to finally bring Multi to Raycast! The Raycast extension can perform any key action in Multi with a few keystrokes: Call a teammate, join a room, control devices, etc… It’s not just faster. If you’ve forgotten that esoteric command to leave a session (CMD+SHIFT+ESC), or if you need to unbind some global shortcuts… Just type the command! As a bonus to any script aficionados, the Raycast extension is built on AppleScript Commands which you can find in the AppleScript library view. "Designing Usefully Unintelligent AI Summaries" We nearly shipped AI chat as our 1st LLM feature in Multi. Then we got over ourselves and shipped AI summaries. Was that the right call? Each day I become less sure. So I'm sharing our design thinking blog post now, before I disagree with all of it 🤣 We started with the observation that many AI features fail because they're too open ended. - They require too much "intelligence" from both LLMs and users. - Users have to manually provide all the context. What if instead, we could build an assistant that - Understands context of what you're trying to do - Can take actions for you - Is proactive, so you don't have to think about what to prompt If you're interested, check out the blog post. AI assistants for calls aren't that useful if they only help after the call is over. They're really just summarizers. But if they can help _during_ the call, that's magic. The challenge is a higher error rate when your AI doesn't have the context of the entire call. For example, a small tactical action item not matter during a strategy discussion, but it's hard to know what level the discussion is focusing on when it just got started. At Multi we're working on making more assistant features realtime. In the meantime, here's one that's blissfully deterministic: # Realtime Shared Content References Shared content references make it easy to get back to any file or link that was screenshared or sent in chat. Now, they populate in realtime during a session, so you never have to ask a screensharer to “go back.”
