About us
West Texas BBQ Bash is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in July 2020 in response to a need to feed the hungry and provide human interaction during the Covid shutdown. It was learned by the five founding members that many people in the area were hungry and had no means to purchase food. While having a friendly cooking competition at the man camp we came up with an idea how to feed the entire community at least one meal a year, contribute to the community, and bring people together to feel the emotion that can only be generated through close human interaction. The rest is history… competitive pitmasters from over a dozen different states answered the call to compete and feed over 5000 people at the first event, free of charge. The first event also generated $10,000.00 in monetary donations. In 2021 the South Texas BBQ Bash was formed, and our goal was to feed 30 thousand people during the 2021-2022 competitions in West and South Texas. This experience of building a network to contribute to the local communities and feed individuals in need has been the inspiration for the two respective BBQ Bashes. 100% of all proceeds go to local charities and because the event, food, and entertainment is provided for free of charge, we depend on our well-to-do community members and the corporate community to donate whatever they can to help bring these events to reality. With supervision the kids provide and use their own cooking equipment to prepare, cook and turn in to be judge a 1" thick cut ribeye.
