The Tropical Americas project team kicked off the official start of construction this morning with a groundbreaking at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.   Congratulations to our Imagineers on this milestone!

Three Imagineering projects have been honored with blooloop Innovation Awards this year! 🏆 The BDX Droids, developed by Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development, Disney Research, and Disney Live Entertainment, claimed first place in the Experiential Technology category for creating groundbreaking, guest-facing interactive experiences. 🤖 In the Immersive Attraction category, Zootopia: Hot Pursuit at Shanghai Disney Resort earned first place, while Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure at Tokyo Disney Resort (Oriental land Co. ltd,) took second. Zootopia: Hot Pursuit delivers a high-energy chase adventure, powered by next-gen media integration, cutting-edge ride technology, and advanced animated figures. 🚓 Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure is the first and only attraction in the world to feature the patented Disney Laser Switch — an innovative breakthrough brought to life by our Imaging and Effects team and Imagineering Research & Development. 🛠️ Congratulations to the teams behind these boundary-pushing projects, and thank you to Blooloop for recognizing our amazing Imagineers! 🎉✨

Imagineers at Shanghai Disney Resort completed the topping out of the resort’s third themed hotel, marking the completion of structural construction. The project team will now move to the next stage of development — bringing the interior to life. We’re thrilled to see this project come together and look forward to sharing more updates as we continue crafting a unique and immersive experience for guests. 🏗️✨

In 2025, Imagineers are launching two new Disney Cruise Line ships, working on the transformation of Disneyland Paris’ second park, helping celebrate Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary — the park that started it all — and so much more. Imagineers from our Interiors team wrapped up the year by giving back to the community! They volunteered at the LA Regional Food Bank, sorting over 25,000 pounds of produce and making a meaningful impact this holiday season. 💛✨

Looking back at the past year, I could not be prouder of everything Imagineers have achieved. From the debut of several attractions to a new cruise ship and island destination and much more, this remarkable global team delivered a huge amount of magic for our guests and fans around the world. As we wrap up an eventful 2024 and look ahead to an exciting 2025, all of us at Walt Disney Imagineering send best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season.

Meet the project team behind the Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship 🚢✨

Imagineers proudly joined fellow Disney cast members in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World for the annual Gary Sinise Foundation “Snowball Express” programs — one honoring families of fallen military heroes and another honoring families of fallen first responders.
