This week wrapped up our final installment of the inaugural University of Tennessee Police Department’s Citizen Academy. This academy had 10 participants made up of a variety of individuals from across the University of Tennessee-Knoxville Campus. The overall goal of the academy was to produce well-informed leaders on our campus community that have the potential to influence public opinion concerning the University of Tennessee Police Department’s practices, policies and procedures used in protecting and serving the community. Fostering these important relationships and building a better-informed group will not only help expand our reach on campus, but also give a unique behind the scenes look at the day-to-day operations of UTPD. Each class consisted of hands-on interactive elements, as well as class time to learn about the policies and procedures of UTPD. It was an extra haul for most involved for the six weeks, but in the end… their comments, appreciation and new understanding of what a law enforcement agency does day after day, was all worth it. Making those relationships with individuals in your community makes valuable stakeholders for the future and puts equity in the bank for a rainy day. Already looking forward to the next class and the new group of community leaders, we get to welcome into our family.

  • Emerson is an outstanding member of our community! Way to go 🧡🤍

Say hello to Emerson Clement, an upcoming junior in the College of Arts & Sciences, who spent her summer as the Communications Intern for the City of Fulshear, Texas! Clement is a member of our Department of English while minoring in public relations and advertising. She is a great example of the interdisciplinary opportunities available to students at the University of Tennessee! #UTArtSci #SummerInterns #EndlessOpportunities

The logo for the City of Fulshear, Texas, Establish 1824 is on the wall behind her. The text on the graphic reads, "Summer 2024 Interns, Emerson Clement, Communications Intern with the City of Fulshear, Texas." Orange, faded spots sit behind the text.
  • Extending a big THANK YOU to Reggie Lane, Director of EVOLVE and Player Engagement for UT Football, for kicking off our annual Summer Advsiors Conference this last weekend. Bringing together over 50 advisors, we spent the day focused on how to work across generational differences, build layers of support, and start the year on the right foot! Fun fact: Reggie is a former Director of Greek Life of an SEC school - any idea which one? 🐊

Enjoyed spending the morning with the fraternity and sorority advisors at the University of Tennessee. This morning conversation centered around the successes and challenges of advising in a GenZ era. Loved tapping back into a fraternity and sorority life and being blessed to use my gifts.

  • We are on our way to Fall recruitment and intake season, so we wanted to share a little more about who is interested in joining our community. Based on the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council registrations, we pulled together the following data points! Over 2,300 students have registered for Fall recruitment; take a look to learn a little more about them. As summer continues, VOL103 sessions wrap up, and students learn more about campus, we will see upwards of 3,500 students express interest in all four of our councils! 📣 Go Vols & Go Greek Division of Student Life at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville | UT Interfraternity Council

  • Membership in a Sorority or Fraternity lasts a lifetime 💯 Meet the final graduate this year that is demonstrating that his college experience was just the start of his Fraternity membership! 🍊 Alvin Robertson (Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.): "I decided to pursue my masters because I want to help students how my mentors helped me. Giving back to students has always been my passion, as well as making sure their mental health is good. That's why I want to be a Dean of students, and working with SFL at UF gets me all of those in one. Plus Greek life was one of my favorite things to do in undergrad." Let's wish all 6 of or graduates well as they go and showcase what it means to be a Volunteer 🧡🤍 Go Vols & Go Greek Alvin Robertson | University of Florida | Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

  • Meet the 6 graduates this year that are demonstrating that their college experience was just the start of their Sorority and Fraternity lifelong membership! Fifth on our list is... 🍊 Macy Gouge (Delta Gamma): "I am graduating from UT a more kind, patient, and confident woman and I attribute this growth to my experience with Delta Gamma. I take pride in being a part of an organization that shapes and inspires leaders, and I am eager to give back to the community that has contributed to my personal development. Witnessing firsthand the positive impact committed mentors and staff can have on chapters has inspired me to step into a similar role for collegiate members. I am so excited to embark of this journey and see the national impacts of our sisterhood!" Macy is our fifth and final consultant graduating this semester! Next up? A graduate continuing his education at UF! Let's wish these 6 well as they go and showcase what it means to be a Volunteer 🧡🤍 Go Vols & Go Greek Macy Gouge | Delta Gamma
