In Syria, only 28% of children are exclusively breastfed in their first six months, risking life-long consequences. Through this mobile clinic, we're changing that narrative. Breastfeeding is not just a mother's job - it's a family and community responsibility. Investing in nutrition services and skilled breastfeeding counseling is crucial for the health and future of our children.

Monitoring matters. Exclusive breastfeeding, when a child only receives breastmilk for the first six months of life, is crucial for a child's growth and development. Yet not enough countries collect data on it. The more we know, the more we can take action. UNICEF is working with governments and partners to strengthen monitoring, which will in turn, help inform policies and investments which create supportive environments for breastfeeding mothers. #WorldBreastfeedingWeek

From experiencing panic attacks before exams to pursuing her passion for designing, 20-year-old Lujain from Syria has come a long way. Her life changed when she enrolled in a UNICEF-supported youth-friendly space, where she learned how to care for her mental health. Gaining confidence in her abilities, she expanded her knowledge at the youth centre, learning computer skills and accounting and attending entrepreneurship courses. Today, she runs a successful business selling gowns and dresses, yet she remains devoted to working at the centre as a life skills trainer. “Those sessions made a difference in my life, and I want to help other young people make the same change.” Lujain’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience and support. She is not just designing clothes; she’s designing a future filled with hope and opportunity.

Kasmin, 8, is holding up a drawing of what she last ate in her right hand and her idea of healthy food in her left hand. She lives and goes to school in a small stilt village in Sandakan, Malaysia. This fun activity has a serious goal. It's part of a wider research initiative to improve nutrition for vulnerable children in the local area. With governments and partners, UNICEF is working to end child food poverty by improving nutrition services and access to nutritious food.

What’s key to baby Mariam’s health? She’s exclusively breastfeeding after nutrition guidance at a UNICEF-supported clinic in Côte d'Ivoire. Holding her 1-month-old baby Mariam, Korotoum shares, “They explained me today about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding until six months. I'm glad I came because my mother had already told me to give water too. I now understand that it is not good and I will certainly follow the advice of the specialists.” UNICEF is working across the world to make sure every mother has access to breastfeeding support. #ForEveryChild, nutrition.
