Building a future where all children thrive.

About us

Established in 1996, The Center for Healthier Children, Families & Communities, housed at UCLA, is a joint effort of the David Geffen School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics and the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. The Center also includes faculty from the UCLA Luskin School of Public Policy & Social Research, School of Law, and the College of Letters and Sciences. The Center understands what it takes for children to thrive and finds new, more innovative and effective ways to make that possible. Working across multiple disciplines to recognize what is most effective, we never forget that behind every data point, there’s a child. For over 25 years, we’ve used our collaborative expertise and research-based approach to social innovation to reveal and frame systemic issues in new ways, re-imagining what’s possible, and developing groundbreaking approaches that reduce disparities in child outcomes and empower community leaders and partners to bring about lasting, positive change for children and families.
