Lake City has been awarded a $13.5 million grant from the U.S. Dept. of Commerce’s U.S. Economic Development Administration, which aims to enhance the city’s resiliency against storms and other natural disasters. Michigan will receive over $1.5 billion in funding to help close the digital divide and ensure that everyone in the state has access to reliable, affordable, high-speed internet. This funding is part of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA)'s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment program, a $42.45 billion state grant initiative authorized by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
