About us
The Script (formerly Emerging Leaders) focuses on diversifying the workforce in Oregon and SW Washington by providing pathways to leadership for underrepresented communities. The Script is meant to be a continuum to support participants throughout their career journey. The initiative includes 4 main pathways or programs, which are Intern, Associate, Manager and Executive. The Intern program connects the region's top companies and diverse college talent for a summer internship and leadership & professional development experience. The first cohort took place in summer 2016. Since then, we’ve partnered with more than 200 companies to connect participants with more than 500 internships, with many successfully transitioning into full-time roles. The Associate program is focused on supporting recent college graduates and junior level folks with personal and professional development, including mentoring, and eventually job opportunities. We will build out programming for the Manager and Executive programs overtime and share updates as they are available. Our programs and initiatives are designed to remove barriers to access and establish talent pipelines to foster a stronger, more inclusive region. Many might not know, but over here at Panic we just wrapped up a successful internship program, so we wanted to take a moment to recognize the incredible contributions and celebrate the completion of our 16-week internship with PSU student, Minh Lam, in Panic’s Financial Department. Minh joined us through a mentorship and student placement opportunity with The Script (formerly Emerging Leaders) —a local program through the nonprofit The Contingent— here at our office in downtown Portland, OR. From day one, Minh brought remarkable enthusiasm and energy to Panic, showing not only a solid grasp of financial principles but also a genuine desire to learn and grow through the process. Minh approached each task with a proactive mindset with an amazing amount of energy and enthusiasm. Throughout his time here, he contributed meaningfully to various projects and events, leaving a lasting mark on everyone here at Panic. We are grateful for the time Minh has spent with us and are excited to see where his journey in finance takes him next. Thank you to Minh for all your hard work and dedication! We can’t wait to see you thrive in your future endeavors! :)

It was great to attend the 5 year celebration for Portland Means Progress (PMP) earlier this week! PMP (an initiative of Prosper Portland) is a city-wide initiative providing connections for businesses to hire local underrepresented students and young professionals of color, purchase from businesses owned by people of color, and create diverse and vibrant workforce and company cultures. The goal is to connect businesses to existing programming that supports social impact creating a pipeline for private-sector engagement. During the event, we heard from Chabre Vickers, Mayor Ted Wheeler, and Brook Gebremedhin MS, CPSD® on the impact and importance of PMP work. There was also a short video that featured Dana Hill (Oregon Health & Science University), Abby Engers, JD, SHRM-CP (Boly:Welch), a former intern of The Script (formerly Emerging Leaders), Diana Luis-Contreras, and others. Diana interned multiple years at NW Natural. She shared about her experience as an intern and how valuable it was for her career. Diana's mother and brother were in attendance to see the video featured and celebrate her. We are proud of you Diana! For additional context, The Script is a partner that creates an avenue for PMP businesses/organizations to provide work experience through our internship program for college students and recent graduates of color. It was a great celebration - congrats PMP! I enjoyed seeing many familiar faces and meeting new folks at the event! Shout out to Andrea Gall for her amazing leadership running PMP!
