On July 8, The Home expanded its portfolio of services and programs with the official reopening of Youth on Fire, a drop-in center that serves unhoused and street-involved youth. Formerly under the management of Fenway Health, the center has reopened under the same name and at the same location, 1 Church Street in Cambridge. The Home is eager to build upon the program's long and reliable history of serving young adults, by providing hot meals, housing, clothing, showers, and laundry facilities, as well as health screenings, medical care, mental health counseling, enrollment in health insurance, and referrals to other self-identified needs. https://lnkd.in/e8fuwZsa

Better, Brighter Futures for Kids
About us
The Home for Little Wanderers helps build stable lives and hopeful futures for vulnerable children. Through a wide range of innovative community-based and residential programs, we ensure the emotional, social, educational and physical well-being of more than 15,000 children and families each year. These children are often society’s most at-risk, many experiencing abuse, neglect or trauma, and a disrupted family life. Our dedicated team of skilled professionals ensures that each child has safe surroundings, loving relationships and a secure path toward tomorrow. As the oldest child welfare agency in America, we have maintained this commitment for more than 200 years. Because every child deserves happiness, and no child should go through life alone.

The Home was delighted to be represented at last month’s Association of Children's Residential & Community (ACRC) Services’ annual conference by three members of our Clinical Quality and Outcomes department. Research and Data Manager Rebecca Thomas, PhD, and VP of Clinical Quality and Outcomes Mike Semel, Ph.D. shared a poster focusing youth-guided, family-driven teaming, while Senior Director of Clinical Quality and Outcomes Jessica Jackson-Yoo, LICSW, co-presented about EQ2 implementation in our congregate care settings alongside leadership from The Lionheart Foundation, The Buckeye Ranch and Lad Lake. Fantastic work, team!

On June 14, The Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ+ Advancement welcomed The Home’s Out at Home team and other Beyond Pride Mini Grant recipients to an exclusive networking event to celebrate grantees’ work, discuss collaborations and meet with City of Boston staff and foundation partners who are working to support LGBTQ+ residents. Beyond Pride funds are granted to assist projects and programs addressing LGBTQ+ community needs and delivering long-term benefits in alignment with priorities related to LGBTQ+ advancement work. We are very honored to be among this innovative and passionate group!

Today, The Home for Little Wanderers celebrates liberation, reflects on the importance of African American history and acknowledges the ongoing work that is needed to achieve true equality and equity for all. Members of our team gathered Saturday in Franklin Park in honor of freedom and fellowship ahead of the holiday, joined by Governor Maura Healey, Senator Ed Markey, Mayor Michelle Wu and a variety of local sponsors and vendors taking part in the celebration. It was a beautiful day to commemorate the end of slavery in America, with delicious food, live music and fun! #juneteenth

Along with our commitment to finding a loving, lasting connection for every child, and providing direct care for youth and families, The Home has found that one of the greatest ways we can effect change is through advocacy, using our voice to lift up the voices of children and youth across the Northeast. This work takes us to the State House in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New York, and even to our nation’s capital.
