Our experts revolutionized security and accessibility at a local public school system by installing ADA- compliant door hardware and updating their master key system. Here’s how we did it: Our local teams joined forces to make a massive upgrade in accessibility and security throughout the district by replacing locks, making safe combination changes, and replacing over 175 outdated door handles that weren’t ADA-compliant. We didn’t stop there! We also enhanced safety and accessibility for disabled students and faculty by installing high-performance ADA levers to doors, while also repairing existing automatic door operators for multiple schools around the district. We’re proud to announce Ken Beyer as our September Tech of the Month! Ken’s journey to The Flying Locksmiths started in construction, where he branched out to remodeling, specializing in door hardware installations. Working on hand-forged iron doors, Ken spent a lot of time with door locks and hardware which piqued his interest. Experienced in hand-forged door hardware installations, Ken’s growing interest in locksmithing sparked his search for a position in the field, which ultimately led to him joining the Memphis team in February of 2023. “I tried to find opportunities to get into it for a while, then saw a job posting for The Flying Locksmiths and reached out to Dawn Edwards. That’s how I ended up here”. After living in Wichita, KS most of his life, Ken moved to Memphis in Christmas of 2009, where he’s stayed ever since. Finding a home at The Flying Locksmiths, he’s happy to be recognized for the award and wants to connect with other security professionals in the company. “Dawn’s been telling me they’ve been putting my name in. We have a lot of locations, a lot of technicians, and a lot of big branches so it’s an honor to be named Tech of the Month. We’re proud to announce Jason Crouch as our August Tech of the Month! Working as a locksmith for over 25 years, Jason’s journey to where he is today began with a small newspaper ad he responded to coming out of high school. After impressing in his interview, Jason quickly showcased his mechanical skills and got the job at a small shop in Kansas—a place he learned the basics of the locksmith trade. Shortly after, Jason was named one of the youngest apprentices in the country in a publication by The Locksmith Ledger and honed his skills, then branching out to work in the access control industry for three years. Jason would later join Fortress—a Cincinnati company he stayed with for over 14 years. Accompanying his expertise, Jason’s mindset facing hardships is what sets him apart. “I try to attack the most difficult part of the project first. That’s like my secret weapon that I tell everybody because the part that everybody dreads, the big, hard, daunting task or whatever you just know is gonna be a challenge.” Congratulations Jason, we thank you for all your hard work and dedication!
