Overall emotional well-being is a significant factor for academic success, and we want to help support parents and children in the pre-school to kindergarten transition. We also know that the pre-school to kindergarten transition is especially challenging for Black boys, with studies indicating that Black boys are tracked more frequently than other students when it comes to behaviors and discipline, contributing to the disparity in preschool suspensions. The Buckeye Ranch is committed to providing high-quality care utilizing the most up-to-date, scientific knowledge to address the challenges faced by the children, young adults, and families we serve. We actively seek the most current research-based treatment approaches in our relentless commitment to providing the best possible care to children, young adults, and families. The Buckeye Ranch also takes a strengths-based approach with every child, young adult, and family. We believe that these strengths can be accessed to help families reach their full potential because families are fundamental in the lives of children and, therefore, central to the treatment we provide. Our families are struggling to overcome serious issues including abuse, neglect, mental illness, suicidal tendencies, addictions, and other life debilitating concerns. Because of this, The Buckeye Ranch is much more than a place. It’s a comprehensive network of skilled professionals, working as a team to provide children and their families with the treatment, guidance and support they need to raise hope and move on to a better place. The Buckeye Ranch is currently serving more than 2,500 children and families from Franklin and other counties every day, at six (6) different locations throughout Ohio. -

What is Functional Family Therapy (FFT) at The Buckeye Ranch? FFT supports youth with serious juvenile offences as part of our Community-Based Mental Health services program line. In 2023, FFT served 107 youth! FFT provides short-term, intensive, high-quality interventions for youth and families who have been referred due to behavioral or emotional challenges by the juvenile justice system, mental health, school, or child welfare systems. FFT services are aimed at increasing functional and positive interactions within the home, and works with a young person’s entire family and extrafamilial influences to facilitate positive growth and development. Services are provided in the home and other community settings FFT works with Franklin County Children's Services, Franklin County Juvenile Court, and the Franklin County ADAMH Board.
