#AYA cancer is mainstream news, this is not good. But thank you both American Cancer Society and Stupid Cancer for this important public awareness piece in both incidence, surviving, and what life is like for young adults after treatment. This is surviving cancer as a young adult "the new generation of cancer survivor — a person who is younger, less financially secure, and still having to navigate life after treatment, from dating to career, sex and child rearing." #AYACSM #Survivorship #lateandlongterm #survonc
With more than 2 million adolescent and young adult cancer survivors living in the US, and 90,000 more diagnosed every year, it’s critical we address the unique challenges AYAs face during this stage of development. Thank you NPR for shining a light in this important topic. I was thrilled to talk with NPR’s health correspondent, Yuki Noguchi, about how Stupid Cancer serves AYAs. https://lnkd.in/eh3H6krK

With the uptick in early onset cancers within young adults...even those who are pregnant are being diagnosed. Complicates the chaos cancer brings exponentially. We need to build our skills and available resources so there is a "box" for them to cared in. #AYACSM
Little is known about women’s experiences of cancer during pregnancy and postpartum. As the incidence of gestational cancer rises parallel to increasing rates of early onset cancers, more research is needed to understand this group’s needs. #survonc Journal of Cancer Survivorship https://lnkd.in/ewhxXwp3

Great question Dr. Crosswell. Financial toxicity - or being severely financially challenged - is real with Young Adults #AYA diagnosed with #cancer. What are your ideas on how to prevent this from happening, or to mitigate the slide into financial issues and concerns for what could be decades of living??? #AYACSM #fintox #healthinsurance
Continues to highlight financial toxicity to AYAs and families during and after cancer treatment, but mitigation strategies are available, but real strategies/solutions are lacking. Any ideas? Well done MSKCC AYA--chalk one up for the rad oncs!
