"The profession of human services works with all types of individuals and families. Having an opportunity to teach students about accessibility and how to support and develop individualized treatment outcomes is a necessity I could not pass on," says Destini Kirkwood, Human Service Faculty at Grays Harbor College. Kirkwood will introduce students to #accessibility through pre-reflective questions, setting the stage for understanding its scope. Her approach includes providing a working definition, guiding students in exploring visible and invisible challenges through group discussions, investigating community resources and gaps, and developing skills to create client-directed outcomes. Congratulations to Destini Kirkwood! Stay tuned for more #FacultyFeatures as we celebrate our inspiring educators!"

"I am interested in teaching accessibility design practices for alternative forms of interaction that students can immediately use on their own, e.g., in web design or data visualizations," says Emily Whiting, Associate Professor at Boston University. Supported by a Teach Access grant, Whiting plans to incorporate a new module in her CS 480: Introduction to Computer Graphics course. The module will consist of a lecture, lab activity, and problem sets focused on #accessibility fundamentals, particularly vision (blindness, low vision, and color blindness), which present significant barriers in Computer Graphics. Congratulations to Emily Whiting! Stay tuned for more #FacultyFeatures from Teach Access as we celebrate our outstanding grant recipients!
