I love that there is an International Women in Engineering Day to spotlight the incredible contribution of women engineers! I have been so privileged through my time at Target to work with many women engineers who are helping shape the future of retail and are role models for others. Their stories and what they have achieved are paving the way for more women to aspire for roles in engineering. I am also proud of what we are doing to nurture and empower more women engineers in the community at Target in India – through UpCurve, a program to help women studying STEM subjects across India in order to be industry ready, and Target Elevate, a platform designed for women in technology to advance in their careers. From hesitation to 1008 surya namaskars (sun salutations), Target in India’s team member Shivakumar Arelingaiah, Senior CRE Professional, Target Properties has had an amazing #yoga journey. Inspired by his wife, he hesitantly stepped into a yoga center in 2019 and, what began as daily classes, soon blossomed into a life-changing experience.   From 12 surya namaskars a day, Shivakumar has today progressed to doing 1008 salutations at a time, earning recognitions in the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records. The journey was demanding, but the rewards were profound. More importantly, he’s found a sense of balance, inner peace, and unwavering positivity.   Today on International Day of Yoga, Shivakumar’s story is a reminder of the positive impact of yoga and the power of a supportive #community. “In my journey of reinvention, I realized that I was not alone,” says Shivakumar. “I have met some very interesting people who helped me on my yoga journey. I am much more positive, happy, healthy and totally at peace with myself and my surroundings.”   #WeAreTarget #InternationalDayofYoga #Wellness #Wellbeing #Health #Worksomewhereyoulove
