    Our view was validated in today’s employment report, which showed 272,000 new jobs in May, exceeding economists’ predictions by more than 50%. Today’s report also reflected a 0.5% increase in wage growth, lifting average hourly wages to $34.91, a 4.1% increase over the past 12 months. For the past three years, this compounding wage growth has taken a toll on employer budgets and processes. Employers who fail to update their compensation, job requirements, and hiring processes are finding it difficult to attract and retain top talent.   May’s data on professional, scientific, and technical services is noteworthy for many of our clients. Wage growth in these services has outstripped other sectors, and job growth in these services spiked 70% in May over its trailing 12-month average.
