We team volunteer attorneys with staff social workers and consulting lawyers to coordinate legal and social service advocacy for child victims of abuse and neglect in Philadelphia. Join us at Penn State Law (in collaboration with Penn State Dickinson Law) on July 11th for the Kids at Court Conference: Trauma Sensitive Strategies for Attorneys. This conference is open to all attorneys who interact with children and youth in their courtroom practice, including, but not limited to, criminal, dependency, delinquency, civil, and domestic relations across Pennsylvania. The conference includes an online pre-requisite session and a live, full-day event. Topics will include oppression-based trauma, the neurobiological impact of trauma, understanding and utilizing forensic interviewing, experts and motions, strategies when children are in-trial and on-the-stand, and more. Brian practices as an intellectual property litigator at Ballard Spahr LLP, zealously advocating on behalf of the firm’s clients, which span from individuals all the way up to Fortune 500 companies. In his spare time, Brian serves on the board of directors of and sings as a tenor with Singing City, a Philadelphia-based amateur choir which for over 75 years has been a force for social impact. Brian has been a Child Advocates Volunteer Attorney since 2014. For the last 10 years, Brian has represented 15 children from 7 families, and has been willing to handle more than one case at a time. Lindsay is an Associate at Barnes & Thornburg LLP where she focuses her practice on defending companies in product liability suits.
