Sunstates Security was grateful for the opportunity to share our insights with the Triangle Business Journal on workplace security, employee safety, and creating a welcoming environment with CEO Denis Kelly. “The No. 1 thing you can do is be proactive rather than reactive. Setting things up properly in a preventative nature can help mitigate risks down the road,” Kelly said. Last month, Sunstates launched a Summer Heat Awareness campaign, encouraging all employees to complete a training course covering heat-related health risks, safety protocols, and prevention strategies. We were pleased to see nearly half of our team participate in this voluntary but crucial initiative. Everyone who completed the training was entered into a raffle, and three individuals received a Stay Cool Sunstates Summer Swag bag, which included a portable neck fan. We appreciate our training department for developing such a valuable course. The Summer Heat Awareness training is still accessible to all Sunstates employees through Sunstates Academy. In the Chicago region, EMT Officers Michael Emmerd and James Thorne responded to a work area where a spinning metal shaft was not being properly quenched and cooled, which caused the shaft to overheat and smoke, nearing the point of fire. They quickly directed employees to shut down the system and used extinguishers to cool it. Even after cooling, the shaft’s temperature still hovered near 1000 degrees. The officers’ quick response and fast actions prevented the shaft from becoming molten and causing a large-scale fire, averting a major loss of client property. We’re grateful for their actions and how they represent Sunstates Security. #GreatWork #EmployeeAppreciation #SecurityTeam #CorporateSecurity #SecurityCompany

When a site visitor experienced a medical emergency, Officer David Nygard of the Houston region offered prompt assistance. He handled the situation with care and provided a valuable presence as medical responders delivered aid. The client stated, “I have only been with the team a short while, and this being my first KUDOS occasion only makes me eager to see what you all as a team are capable of. I appreciate every one of you and the sacrifices you all make to ensure the mission is fulfilled. Officer Nygard, a job very well done, sir. Glad to have you on the team.” Pictured: From left, Captain Michael Shephard and Officer David Nygard #Security #SecurityTeam #GoingAboveAndBeyond #SecurityOfficer #SecurityCompany #SecurityServices #CorporateSecurity #Houston #HoustonTX

At our Annual Leadership Conference in June, we were fortunate to have Alden Mills as our keynote speaker. He delivered an inspiring message and hung around after signing copies of his book, Unstoppable Mindset: How to Use What You Have to Get What You Want. Alden, a three-time Navy SEAL platoon commander, CEO of an Inc. 500 company, Division I athlete, top-ranked public speaker, and author, engaged in productive discussions with our company leaders about goal achievement, teamwork, and inspiring leadership. We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to visit Raleigh and deliver such an impactful closing keynote. #Leaders #Leadership #Keynote #Security #SecurityTeam #SecurityCompany #SecurityServices

Meet Regional Manager Michael Philbeck, MA, Ed.S Michael is a seasoned professional with a strong drive and dedication. Kudos to the Sunstates team that delivered a smooth transition ahead of schedule. When Sunstates took over security at a site in Batavia, Ohio, they faced an unexpected challenge: the previous security company pulled out a day early. Operations Manager Robert Allen promptly informed the team and took the necessary steps to have all personnel and equipment on-site within a few hours. Business Development Manager Shaun Root was also on-site to assist with getting everything up and running. It was an all-hands-on-deck situation with a successful outcome, and the client was very appreciative. Last month, Officers Jose Valadez and Lucio Raymondo of the Dallas region received multiple calls about an individual holding a gun in the parking lot on-site. Without any hesitation, the officers immediately responded by contacting the off-duty officer on campus and notified 911. Upon seeing our officers, the subject ran back to his vehicle and left the property. Fortunately, our officers were vigilant and took down a detailed description of the subject along with his vehicle license plate number and make and model to provide to the police. Due to our officer's response and the information provided, Law Enforcement was able to take the subject into custody without incident. Your excellent attention to detail and precise actions lead to a positive outcome. We’re grateful to have you both on the team. #GreatWork #SecurityOfficers #SecurityServices #SunstatesSecurity #SecurityTeam #Team #Security #CorporateSecurity #GoingAboveAndBeyond #SecurityPersonnel #SecurityCompany #Dallas #DallasBusiness
