Last week, we celebrated our bestsellers and community members at Brooklyn Crab in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The evening included drinks and crab, postcards to send to friends, and a toast from our Head of Writer Relations & Events Sophia Efthimiatou and Co-founder/CTO Jairaj Sethi. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to celebrating more milestones with you all. Photos by Bryon Summers for Substack.

About us
Substack lets writers connect with their audience on their own terms and earn money doing it. We make it simple for writers to publish to an email list that they own, get discovered on the web, and charge for subscriptions. More than 500,000 people pay to subscribe to writers across the Substack network, and the top writers make millions of dollars a year. Substack’s model depends on the success of writers using Substack – we only make money when they do. “Substack makes it dead simple to start a newsletter and get paid for it.” – Judd Legum, author of Popular Information "Substack gives me a way to connect with my audience on my own terms.” – Lyz Lenz, author of God Land and Men Yell At Me Make something that matters Great writing is valuable. It respects readers' time, their intelligence, and their trust. It helps us make sense of and change the culture we live in. At Substack, we're building a business model that enables great writing to thrive. Learn more about our opportunity and mission. We are a small but growing team, and there is more to build than we could ever imagine. That’s why we need you. We aim to take pragmatic approaches to problem solving while shipping high-quality products that allow the writing on Substack to take the spotlight. “If my Substack is the open studio I’m hosting, then Notes is the bench or the park in front of the studio where the work of the studio spills out and mingles with the world beyond. It is an invitation for contact of the best kind,” says Pulitzer-prize winning author Junot Diaz. In a new guide, we spoke to writers and creators to get tips on how they use Notes to launch and grow their publications—from posting an introductory video to experimenting with new ideas. Welcoming Pamela Anderson to Substack! In The Open Journal, Pamela writes a new weekly journal entry including thoughts, poetry, and love-based philosophy. “I felt that there was a massive gap that needed to be filled—the ability for us to come together in a way that we haven’t before,” Pamela writes in her first post. “I want us to discuss, expand, smile, cry, and trade thoughts in a space where that’s possible… to build a real community of love and fun around shared wisdom, feelings, and even recipes.” Subscribe at https://lnkd.in/evVPZb2T.

#RemarkablePeople has launched on Substack! Every issue will help you make a difference and be remarkable. What's missing? The concept of asking, “What’s missing?” was introduced to me during an interview with Dan Simons of the University of Illinois, in order to give credit where it is due. It is remarkable advice for recent graduates and everyone else too. 🎧 https://lnkd.in/gjmQWRk4 The mechanism I am using is the text of my commencement address to the Crown College of UC Santa Cruz on June 14, 2024. I can’t recall a speech in the last twenty years and 1,000 appearances that I wrote out word-for-word and rehearsed multiple times. Such is the gravity and importance of a commencement address, and giving a commencement address is one of the most prestigious honors. 📖 📖 Read my speech on Substack: https://lnkd.in/g_WkATgu ▶️ ▶️ Watch my speech by skipping to the 8:35 mark: https://bit.ly/3W1zqcY 🧠 🧠 Explore https://lnkd.in/gzf2raai #ThinkRemarkable
