First steps are hard. They require careful planning, calculated risk, and most of all, courage. We took a daring first step earlier this month with the completion of TA-1’s first powered flight, reaching high supersonic speeds approaching Mach 5. The flight was a landmark moment on our path to providing our customers and nation a reusable and routine hypersonic test capability. Congratulations to the Stratolaunch team and our partners on this achievement! Talon-A2 is Stratolaunch’s first recoverable autonomous hypersonic testbed designed to repeatedly air launch, fly a hypersonic trajectory, and land on a standard runway. It represents a new era of low-risk, affordable, and routine access to the hypersonic environment. It's National Manufacturing Week and today we are excited to introduce Amanda, a Manufacturing Engineer working on Stratolaunch's environmental test team designing operational test systems to ensure efficiency of mechanical and electrical components on the aircraft.

On Friday, Sept. 20th, members of Congress and industry experts met at the Hudson Institute to discuss the future U.S. and allied American hypersonic missile program. Stratolaunch strategic advisor Admiral James "Sandy" Winnefeld emphasized, “We need to create the infrastructure that allows our defense industrial base and our national laboratories to learn faster to accelerate capability into the fleet that allows rapid testing and will automatically accelerate the pace of capability into the future.” At Stratolaunch, we value the need for rigorous testing and training to advance reliability and readiness with aerospace technology and to enhance our nation's defense capabilities against emerging threats.
