A Friday reminder as you end your week — it’s natural to feel overwhelmed during uncertain times. When the world feels a bit chaotic, it can help to focus on what we can control. While we may not have power over every event or every outcome, we do have a say in how we spend our time, whom we choose to engage with, and how we show up for ourselves and others. Recognizing what’s within our control can be a grounding and empowering practice, offering strength and calm. 🌱💚 #mentalhealth #Fridayreminder #mindfulness #workplacewellbeing #EAP

The #holidays can be tough for people recovering from substance use disorder, as the pressure to partake may be at its peak. In fact, 49% of holiday season traffic fatalities involve alcohol (CDC). Managers, you can play a pivotal role in creating an inclusive and celebratory holiday environment where #sober employees feel included, welcomed, and safe. Here are three useful tips to keep in mind as the holidays approach: 🎁 Make sure there are plenty of non-alcoholic options at company get-togethers. Seltzers and sodas are great — and festive mocktails can brighten the mood even more. 🎁 Consider alternative ways to get into the holiday spirit that don’t involve drinking at all. Think of activities like volunteering at the local animal shelter or a group exercise class to bond in a healthy way. 🎁 Reduce stigma and educate your workforce on substance use disorder, during the holidays and all year long. Managers can be a first line of support to connect employees with information and resources, such as an EAP that offers comprehensive support for alcohol and drug use. Do you have other ways you’re fostering an inclusive workplace during the holidays? Add your tips and suggestions in the comments. #managers #mentalhealth #workplacewellbeing #sobriety #holidays #workculture

We want to thank our veterans for their service, while also acknowledging the complex mental health challenges they face upon returning to civilian life. 👉 10-30% of veterans experience major depressive disorder. Anxiety disorders are also common, often co-occurring with PTSD. 👉 Close to 11% of veterans presenting for care within the VHA system meet the criteria for a substance use disorder diagnosis. 👉 The suicide rate for veterans is 1.5x higher than that of the general population. This is exactly what makes our Specialty Care solution so important — it provides rapid access to intensive treatment for acute behavioral health conditions including PTSD and SUDs. Just as Spring Health’s Chief Medical Officer, Millard Brown, emphasizes, our veterans deserve quality mental health support. Remember that reaching out for help is a sign of strength — not weakness.

You voted. The election happened. Now what? Election results can stir up a wide range of emotions: joy, relief, disappointment, sadness, even anger. And whether your candidate wins or loses, here are some ways to navigate these intense emotions in a healthy way at home and at work. Here are 5 tips to consider: 1. Acknowledge your feelings. It’s normal to feel strong emotions after an election. And don’t try to hide or push down your emotions, as this can cause more stress. Take a moment to reflect on how you feel and if it helps, reach out to a friend or family member to talk about it. 2. Practice mindfulness. There could be a lot racing through your mind right now, and it’s important to center yourself. Deep breathing, meditation, or even going for a walk can help you focus on your surroundings, feel calmer, and avoid reacting too quickly. 3. Take a social media break. Social media can be draining, especially during an election filled with arguing and negative posts. Instead of scrolling, try doing something that lifts your mood: getting out into nature, spending time with friends, or practicing a favorite hobby. 4. Engage in respectful conversations. When discussing election results, approach conversations with kindness and respect. Listen, stay open-minded, and remember — it’s okay to disagree, but do so without being rude or hurtful. 5. Get involved in your community. If your candidate doesn’t win, channel that energy into something positive. This might look like volunteering or supporting a cause you’re passionate about. Taking action can lift your spirits and give you a renewed sense of purpose. Finally, don’t be afraid to reach out for help if you need it. If election results are making you feel anxious, upset, or they’re impacting your day-to-day functioning, a therapist can help. Employees, managers, mental healthcare providers, and everyone supporting others — how are you doing this week? 😅 A gentle reminder: Even those who provide care and support, like therapists and coaches, are human too. Feeling stressed, exhausted, or overwhelmed? It’s okay. During challenging weeks, remember to prioritize your own mental well-being. Supporting yourself is the first step in being there for others. 💚

Engagement is core to organizational success. According to Gallup, highly engaged teams are 18% more productive than disengaged teams. However, only around 1 in 3 employees are actively engaged at work, which can lead to lower #motivation and higher absenteeism. Several factors can cause low engagement, from a lack of recognition to poor communication. It’s essential for people leaders to look at #engagement as a true indicator of employee satisfaction. In honor of #WorldMentalHealthDay, we’re starting conversations about how we can all #workhealthier. In the comments, let us know: what helps you feel engaged at work? #workplacewellbeing #wmhd
