Sovereign #debt has been accumulating. The current increase in debt began with the global #financial crisis in 2008–2011. #Government debt for large, advanced economies rose again during the COVID-19 pandemic and after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. #InterestRates were low during this last episode of borrowing, making the cost of borrowing negligible for some large economies. From S&P Global Ratings: #Issuance in China's structured finance market will drop for the third consecutive year in 2024 after declining 10% year on year during the first half. Subdued economic conditions may continue to slow issuance of asset-backed securities (ABS) in the second half. We estimate new issuance in the full year will fall by about 12% to approximately Chinese renminbi (RMB) 1.65 trillion. Get more insights: https://okt.to/5BjRrW #China

This summer, men and #women will be represented in equal numbers at the Olympics. In the #ParisOlympics of 1900, only 22 women participated, or 2.2% of competing athletes. As recently as the 1984 Los Angeles Games, less than a quarter of competing athletes were women. But the 2024 games have set a new high-water mark for #sports equality. Of the 32 Olympic sports, 28 will be gender equal.
