About us
Technical brilliance. Creative passion. A shared dedication to the collaborative process. From the early days of entertainment technology to the latest digital media breakthroughs, the brightest minds in the industry have found their community in SMPTE, the home of creative technology. The Oscar® and Emmy® Award-winning SMPTE is a global professional society of individuals and corporations collaborating for the advancement of all things technical in the motion picture, television and digital media industries. The Society fosters a diverse and engaged membership from both the technology and creative communities, delivering vast educational offerings, technical conferences and exhibitions, informational blog posts, and the renowned SMPTE Motion Imaging Journal. We champion local and global forums, section meetings and other events that offer invaluable access to a network of mentors and colleagues. And we encourage and reward volunteer participation in leadership roles within the Society. Just as importantly, SMPTE is an internationally recognized Standards organization, bringing order to the chaos of constantly evolving technologies with a high level of unbiased technical excellence. SMPTE's more than 800 engineering standards and guidelines are developed in a collaborative process with individuals and corporations to advance global interoperability of hardware and software. As a result, the industry worldwide can enjoy both improved workflow and uncompromising quality for seamless creation, management and delivery of media. More than 6,000 members — motion-imaging executives, engineers, creative and technology professionals, researchers, scientists, educators, and students — who meet in Sections throughout the world, sustain the Society. Through the Society’s partnership with the Hollywood Post Alliance® (HPA®), this membership is complemented by the professional community of businesses and individuals who provide the expertise, support, tools and infrastructure

What a week!!! 3 days of SMPTE Oceania #METexpo25 which started on 29th July and then finishing off with SVG Australia hosted at Telstra today. Amazing opportunities for people in Broadcast, media and sports industry to interact, learn and grow. NETWORKING, NETWORKING, NETWORKING!!! At #METexpo25 we did something different this year: 1. 39 FREE conference sessions - 70+ speakers - 32 Exhibitors and over 1300 registered visitors 2. Education: TAFE student interviews, production was so good to see them get the buzz of such a hands on experience running and producing the Metxpo.tv, which was run in collaboration with TAFE students, Grass Valley , Layercake and many more partners who made it come to like. A huge thank you to Lutfi Hady to make this into a reality with Tony Moran and all the amazing partners. 3. SVGW event on Tuesday evening, Caroline Ramsay hosting the event tackling the important topic DEI and more inclusive workplace, by bringing this topic to front and in open with strong panelists got everyone evaluating their workplace. 4. Collaborating with Rise ANZ on the EmpowerHER breakfast event on Thursday morning, which was successful despite the rains; it was so good to see the room filled with diversity and absorbing the panellist discussion on leadership challenges. Jacent Mawanda’s story was powerful reminder on how a small, simple act can change someone’s life. Getting the attendees to do the table challenges was fun and engaging way to have them involved. A HUGE thank you to the SMPTE Oceania board members with new chair Evdoxia Brownlow being announced but more importantly acknowledging and thanking for all the work that has been done by current chair Paul Whybrow MAICD needs to be congratulated on this fantastic event. This event wouldn’t have been successful without the board members and the support their employers have given us to do this work. So huge thank you to all employers and especially from me thanks to Karen Clark and #TelstraBroadcastServices for empowering me to continue to grow in this industry. Congratulation 🥂 #TelstraBroadcastServices for 10 years in the industry. With the continued theme of panels and case studies at SVG Australia summit today, I have ended the week on a high note with continued networking and learning. Not many photos to share but so many memories made! Thank you all!
