  • Open Streets is BACK! Programming is returning to downtown Salt Lake City’s Main Street for two weekends this summer: Friday and Saturday, July 12-13, and July 19-20. Between 100 South and 200 South, Main Street will be closed to automobile traffic and transformed into a pedestrian promenade with live entertainment and activations. This year, The Blocks Arts District presents two headline events. First, "Main Street: A Fashion and Music Experience,” presented by Alleyways Amplified, returns on Saturday, July 13, from 8-10 p.m., offering an immersive experience in the lobby of the Eccles Theater. Then, on Friday, July 19, from 6-10 p.m., the Eccles Theater, The Blocks, and the Mexican Consulate in Salt Lake City will present an evening with four local mariachi bands and renowned Mexican classical guitarist Sergio Fuentes Oseguera. Open Streets, created to foster a family and pedestrian-friendly downtown and study Main Street walkability, is made possible by funding and staff support from Salt Lake City and is activated by the Downtown Alliance and The Blocks Arts District.

  • We hope this stock footage of donuts doesn’t make you too hungry! 😋 If it does, try the real thing at Eats Bakery, which was recently approved for a $100,000 Economic Development Loan Fund (EDLF) loan by the Salt Lake City Council. Eats Bakery, which opened in 2020, specializes in making vegan sweet rolls, donuts, and cookies. You can also find Eats’ vegan treats at farmers markets, including the SLC Farmers Market and Winter Market, as well as at festivals. Working with the Business Development division of the Department of Economic Development, Eats Bakery received the loan to assist with the build-out of their first brick-and-mortar location at 592 West and 200 South.
