If you see the term “Gum Base” written on the back of your pack of gum, that’s code for potentially many different chemicals, including the same synthetic plastics used in white glue, car tires, and water bottles! Chew on that. We don’t like chewing on synthetic plastic, so we use a tree sap (chicle) as our gum base instead. We also leave out artificial flavors, colors, and sweeteners like aspartame. Gum made simple.
