We are thrilled to announce that Silica has joined forces with 52 leading organisations to endorse the Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Industry Commitments. This groundbreaking initiative sets a new standard for the carbon removal sector, reinforcing our collective dedication to combat climate change and meet the ambitious goals of the Paris Agreement.   🔍Why This Matters: The CDR Industry Commitments represent a significant moment for our industry, aligning with the scientific consensus that to achieve net zero, we must not only reduce emissions but also remove 5-10 gigatons of CO2 annually by 2050.    ➡ Key Pillars of the Commitments: 📌Clear Definitions: Establishing what CDR truly entails and its crucial role in    climate action. 📌Commitment to Science: Acknowledging the necessity of CDR in our climate strategies. 📌Sustainability & Transparency: Upholding the highest standards of accountability and adherence to regulations. 📌Public Engagement: Ensuring inclusivity and equity in carbon removal activities.   As signatories of these commitments, we are taking responsibility for the growth and integrity of the CDR sector. [NEP Member Company X quote]: ‘…’   We invite all players in the CDR sector to join us in this shared commitment to building a future where carbon removals are done the right way, with accountability at its core.  Access the Commitments:  https://lnkd.in/eP7d4dh5

We are thrilled to share that Silica has been selected as a carbon removal supplier in Frontier’s latest round of pre-purchase agreements. Frontier, backed by companies like Stripe, Shopify, and Meta, is an advanced market commitment that has pledged to buy $1 billion worth of permanent carbon removal credits by 2030. This marks a significant milestone for Silica and it validates the innovative approach we’re taking to deliver scalable, permanent carbon removal. We are proud to be contributing to this critical effort and look forward to continuing our carbon removal efforts while bringing meaningful benefits to smallholder farmers in Latin America. We want to thank Google, Stripe, and Shopify, the buyers behind the pre-purchase, and everyone at Frontier for making this a reality.

Frontier has facilitated its fourth round of carbon removal prepurchases—from Alt Carbon (India), Anvil Capture Systems (US), Capture6 (US), Alithic (US), Exterra Carbon Solutions (Canada), Flux (Kenya), NULIFE GreenTech (Canada), Planeteers (Germany), and Silica (Mexico)—on behalf of buyers Stripe, Alphabet Inc., Shopify, H&M Group, and Match! 🌐 These companies are deploying around the globe, from wastewater plants in Germany to tea plantations in India. This group includes companies from 6 countries, including our first from Mexico. 💡 Selected companies cover 5 carbon removal pathways: direct air capture, field weathering, mineralization, ocean alkalinity enhancement and biomass carbon removal and storage. It’s Frontier’s fourth round and we keep seeing new approaches to carbon removal. 📈 Frontier buyers are the first customers for 5 out of the 9 companies. Major thank you to the impressive round of applicants this year. If you are a carbon removal supplier, we’d love to hear from you. You can find more details about Frontier’s purchase process on our website.
