As families get ready for fall and back-to-school season, U.S. shopping habits are shifting. We analyzed month-over-month sales from thousands of Shopify merchants to pinpoint July's trending products, and here’s what caught our attention: → Parents stocked up on baby essentials, with umbrella strollers (+1,125%) and baby bottles (+1,121%) both increasing by 11x, followed by bibs (+518%), onesies (+319%), and sippy cups (+278%). → Back-to-school shopping started early, with school uniform sales up 471%, and bulletin board trim (+261%) and lunch boxes (+157%) also rising. → College students are preparing for move-in day, with dorm essentials like ladder bookcases and shelves (+97%), storage ottomans (+92%), desk clocks (+63%), and reading lamps (+37%) in high demand. → Fall sports are on the horizon, and athletes are gearing up with dancing shoes (+301%), sports uniforms (+246%), track jackets (+99%), and cheerleading pom poms (+32%). → Tennis also saw high demand in July, with tennis shoes jumping 733%. Beyoncé's Houston stop on the Cowboy Carter tour generated $50 million in local spending. This surge extends far beyond her hometown; it’s impacting entrepreneurs and independent fashion brands on a global scale. Here’s what the data shows: → Interest in "cowboy core" fashion is rising, with cowboy hat sales on Shopify up by 141% compared to last year. → Traditionally a niche market, western fashion is attracting new audiences: Gen Z and millennial women of color. Chicago-based western wear brand Maya James experienced a 3,100% increase in orders following the tour announcement. → Brands that responded quickly to this trend reaped the benefits. Houston-based Rock’em launched a "concert ready" collection, resulting in a 14% sales increase for those products. Tecovas, known for premium cowboy boots, saw the opportunity to expand beyond their traditional markets and is opening a flagship store in New York's SoHo. U.S. shopping habits are shifting with the season. We analyzed month-over-month sales from thousands of Shopify merchants to identify June’s trending products. At the top of the list are paddleball sets and sunflowers. Here’s what caught our attention: → Outdoor activities are gaining popularity, highlighted by a 904% increase in paddleball sets. Demand also surged for roller skates (+640%), bocce ball sets (+377%), and kick scooters (+235%). → As summer heats up, consumers are purchasing beach and pool products. Beach bag sales are up 251%, followed by bikinis (+222%), pool noodles (+167%), and one-piece swimsuits (+120%). → Golfers are investing in accessories, including golf bag covers & cases (+94%), golf gloves (+41%), and golf clubs (+33%). → With the Fourth of July approaching, consumers are stocking up on festive foods and decorations, including pie & pastry fillings (+284%), vegetable dips (+200%), picnic blankets (+198%) and grill toppers (109%).
