The Navantia Seanergies shipyard in Fene recently completed the first monopile bound for our East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm. It marks another a major milestone on our journey towards a cleaner and greener future, with offshore construction for East Anglia THREE set to get underway later this year ✔ Our thanks to the Navantia Seanergies-Windar Renovables joint venture for their hard work in reaching this point - and we look forward to seeing the rest of the order rolling off the production line 💚 #OffshoreWind #EastAnglia

Our Offshore Innovation team ran an event last week with University of Strathclyde to discuss collaboration and innovation within Scotland’s offshore wind industry and supply chain. The event looked at ways to improve current systems, reduce risks and to lower costs associated with offshore installations. Scottish SMEs were invited to present their innovative solutions that could bring improvements to the wider industry. Strathclyde Vice-Dean, Prof. Campbell Booth, joined to explain how the university can support innovative businesses with their facilities and research activities. We look forward to continuing collaboration with Scotland’s offshore wind supply chain and supporting innovative SMEs and start-ups that will no doubt shape the future of the offshore wind industry 💚 #OffshoreWind #Innovation

The first phase of our #MarramWind statutory consultation is now closed 📪 A huge thanks to everyone who attended our drop-in events, virtual Q&A sessions or visited our online exhibition. We engaged with just under 90 people during the past month and are grateful for the responses and support of local community members and stakeholders 💚 We'll review and consider all the feedback received and look forward to further discussions with local communities as we move towards the second statutory consultation period, planned for Autumn 2024.

We recently celebrated the end of the 7th Breaking Barriers cohort at ScottishPower – a work experience and university programme run in partnership with Enable and University of Strathclyde. From skill-building to fostering a supportive environment for personal growth, this programme is designed to provide invaluable opportunities for young people who have barriers to employment through learning difficulties 💚 Check out the video below to find out why we think its important to create a diverse and inclusive workplace⭐ 👇

Our MachairWind project team recently hosted a STEM workshop at Port Ellen Primary school with Primary 1 & 2 children as part of their school ECO project, focusing on renewable energies 💚 The workshops included building turbines with playdoh, straws, foil windmills and ribbon, working together to ensure the turbines stayed upright and didn’t collapse! The team also got the pupils thinking about marine mammals and birds in their local waters and environment, and the importance of protecting these species when building a windfarm 🐬 Activities like these bring offshore wind projects to life in the minds of pupils and hopefully spark an interest in some future green careers, possibly in offshore wind! #STEM #OffshoreWind #MachairWind

As we come towards the end of #WEW24, colleagues from ScottishPower Renewables’ East Anglia ONE windfarm celebrate what the wind industry means for them and the local area in the East Anglian Daily Times. They set out the impact and importance of the industry, and why a role in wind offers dynamic and rewarding opportunities for people at every stage of their careers. Read more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eDfZs_4a Meanwhile, the wider east of England region has firmly established itself as a leading hub for renewable energy, bringing a host of benefits for local partners – as new contract awards show. ✨ Whilst advanced electricity generating technology is hugely important and ever evolving in our sector – which we’ve seen some great examples of across #WEW24 this week - innovation extends beyond just the machinery. It can be just as evident in new methods and processes for many other activities associated with renewable energy developments. Our very own Ecology team are part of a cutting-edge project studying the genetic diversity of one million flying insects from across the UK, which could lead to the discovery of undescribed species 🔎 🐜 Read more on the Wellcome Sanger Institute’s BIOSCAN project here 👇 https://lnkd.in/eZzkf8r5 #WindEnergyWeek #Innovation #Ecology #Biodiversity #WhiteleeWindfarm #MoreThanAWindfarm

This #WEW24 we celebrate innovative floating offshore wind technologies, and the opportunities they can create to maximise the potential of clean, green energy generated offshore. 🌊 Fixed bottom windfarms rely more upon seabed conditions and water depths, whilst floating windfarms can be built further offshore in water depths that wouldn’t have previously been possible to operate from. With higher average wind speeds further offshore, floating technology generates more clean, green electricity for homes and businesses. ✨ RenewableUK predicts that floating wind will represent well over half of UK offshore wind generation by 2050, highlighting just how crucial this rapidly evolving technology will be in our drive towards a decarbonised future. Check out the different types of floating platforms 👇 #FloatingWind #OffshoreWind #WindEnergyWeek

The first electricity transformers for our East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm arrived in Suffolk this week, having been transported from the port of Bremen in Germany. The Siemens Energy manufactured transformers will be key in connecting the offshore turbines to the national grid, distributing clean green electricity to homes and businesses. The transport of the transformers coordinated by Allelys ran smoothly, with more deliveries planned in the coming weeks.
