Congratulations to SBSB Eastham litigation partner Christina Schovajsa for her involvement in a decision of national significance surrounding the issue of freight broker liability. In the case of Morales v. OK Transportation, Inc., et al., federal judge David Morales granted Penske Transportation Management’s Motion for Summary Judgement. The case had been unsuccessfully mediated on multiple occasions and was set for jury trial in July.

Congratulations to SBSB Eastham attorney Andrew Schreck, who was part of the defense team that helped their client Team Industrial Services Inc. achieve an appellate victory on Thursday, May 16, when the Houston First Court of Appeals vacated a $222m verdict in a suit involving the death of a Kansas power plant worker at a Kansas plant. The appellate court held that Texas was not the proper forum for the suit, and instead should have been filed in Kansas. This is a tremendous victory for the client, the defense team and Andy.
