David Fuchs, our Business Development Specialist, attended Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA) last month in San Antonio, Texas. Here are a few takeaways he had from the event: ⚡It was a great event to build genuine connections with fleet managers, Sessions were light, there was no huge expo hall, and there was plenty of time for networking and casual conversations about the industry. They also did a fantastic job of highlighting past and present leaders in the fleet industry. ⚡Most fleets have either only just begun or have not yet started their electrification journey. This makes planning that much more critical. ⚡In the corporate fleet world, electrification is being driven by company sustainability goals. It's imperative that the operational benefits that come with EVs are objectively shown through data. ⚡It's impressive to see the impact that managers of large fleet can have on an entire organization's bottom line. Electrifying a fleet involves much more than acquiring EVs. A smooth transition to a mixed-energy fleet requires thorough planning to address range requirements, charging schedules, and locations. During the planning phase, it's best to address financing and infrastructure build-out. This includes offering options for at-home charging and reimbursing drivers for home charging costs. With proper preparation, an EV fleet charging plan can lead to smooth operations, avoiding charging bottlenecks or needless expenses due to a surplus of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). We’re excited to be attending the annual National Alliance of State and University Fleets (NASUF) workshop next week! This exciting event is where state governments, universities, and select vendors gather to exchange ideas, foster new connections, and learn everything there is to know about this year's theme: Charting a Course for Fleet Excellence. Mary Till, our Director of Business Development will be attending alongside WEX's Ryan Kelly, Janet Parker, and Ryan Paul. As part of a workshop for public fleet managers hosted by NASUF, Ryan Kelly will be presenting on how traditional vehicles and EVs can successfully coexist in commercial fleets, with real-world insights from Clinton Bench, UCLA’s Director of Fleet and Transit.
