The mission of the Sarasota Performing Arts Foundation is to create and sustain a vibrant performing arts center, advance education, and enrich communities by inspiring minds through the power of the arts. Since 1987, the Van Wezel Foundation has partnered with the City of Sarasota to foster a connection between the city, the people, the bay and the spirit of human creativity. Through this collaboration and the generosity of donors, the Foundation has provided grants of more than $14 million to ensure arts education training for more than 500 teachers and arts education programming to more than 40,000 students and at-risk youth across five counties each year.

Artist Spotlight: Appleton Arts Integration Award Winner, Freda Williams Kmak! 🏆🎉 Freda has been an educator working with children in Sarasota County’s schools for over 20 years! She blends visual and performing arts with academic subjects in her teaching methods, creating projects for her students that use creative thinking skills through various art forms. Freda started her career in arts integration attending Van Wezel Professional Development, and now is a regular teaching artist with the us and Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Her style embraces arts education through her day-to-day work as an educator, via professional development workshops, and as a committee member to promote the arts in schools.
