The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square is officially open for its 17th season. We're excited to see this beloved holiday tradition returning to the heart of San Francisco. Since the beginning, Safeway has proudly sponsored the rink, helping to create magical memories during the holidays. We're excited to announce the grand opening of our new store in Elk Grove, CA led by Store Director Nick Hicks. This marks our third location in the City of Elk Grove. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate opening day. We're so grateful for such an amazing turnout from the Elk Grove community. During the festivities, we were honored to award a special donation to the Elk Grove Food Bank to help nourish our neighbors in need followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony with our Northern California leadership team and city officials.

We were proud to be a part of the Best Buddies Challenge, a cycling event in Marin County supporting Best Buddies' mission of inclusion for individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities. Our team had the honor of being cheered on by Best Buddies ambassadors, including one of our own associates (Jerome) from the College Avenue Safeway (Oakland). Over the past three years, our Foundation has contributed more than $1.6M to Best Buddies through fundraising campaigns held in the Northern California Division. Thanks to the support of our store teams and customers.

For over 30 years, Safeway has been a proud sponsor of the World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay, CA. Today, Travis Gienger from Anoka, Minnesota claimed first place with his pumpkin tipping the scales at 2,471 pounds earning him his fourth title. The fun continues, and you can see the prize-winning pumpkin at the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival on October 19th and 20th.
