Global leader in Motion Amplification®, non-contact, vibration testing, condition monitoring and data acquisition.
About us
RDI Technologies’ patented Motion Amplification® solutions enable reliability and test & measure programs to make faster, safer, and more informed predictive maintenance and design decisions. RDI Technologies developed and patented Motion Amplification® a proprietary camera-based vibration analysis technology measuring deflection, displacement, vibrational relationships, and movement – visualizing motion not visible to the human eye or captured with traditional sensors - all in real time. Non-contact with a full field-of-view, Motion Amplification technology sets up quickly and within minutes turns every pixel in the camera’s view into a sensor capable of measuring vibration or motion with unparalleled levels of accuracy. It can resolve motions as small as <0.01 mils (250 nanometers) at 1 meter and can be performed live on even a modest laptop, making it suitable for a range of applications from product design and testing to field-based machinery fault diagnosis and structural testing. RDI’s Solution Suite includes include Robotics (Iris M vibration analysis payload for Boston Dynamic’s Spot), Modal Test and Analysis, Fastec Imaging High-Speed Cameras, Continuous Monitoring, Stereo Vision, and High-Speed Extended Frequency cameras. RDI Technologies helps clients in more than 60 countries and 40 industries gain greater speed to insight while reducing risk and cost. Over 800 corporate and government global customers including Google, Nissan, Duke Energy, Newmont, Amazon, Chevron, and US Navy rely on RDI’s breakthrough Motion Amplification® platform to see and measure motion previously impossible to visualize by contacting sensors.

💡For those new to the channel, or the topic of Vibration Analysis, Stuart Walker shared this inner race defect example which reviewed issues on a cooling tower gearbox: 📈 "A nice inner race defect from one of my regular customers. 3rd time I have pulled this cooling tower gearbox for damage over the last 15 years. All different defects. Done this job with 2120, 2130, and now Emerson's Automation Technologies & Solutions AMS 2140 vibration analyser with remote plugins from Hansford Sensors Ltd. 📉 Waveform PK-PK trend in G's is a great parameter to trend defect severity. Didn't have any details on this gearbox except input and output speeds. Data showed clear harmonics with many modulation sidebands at 945 CPM, input was 1480rpm output 110rpm so deduced most likely second shaft inner race bearing defect which was correct." 📚 To learn more about the technologies used in the case example, see the 'Resources' comment below. #conditionmonitoring #vibrationanalysis #coolingtower #gearbox #hansfordsensors #emerson

❓ How does Motion Amplification™ fit within an existing PDM program? 💬 Stuart Walker: "Here is a great example. We were collecting baseline readings on a variety of rotating assets on a new print press using our Emerson's Automation Technologies & Solutions AMS 2140 Analyser. We noticed one of the Oven infeed drives was showing raised levels around 10mm/sec RMS at 1XRPM, and the surrounding structure was also vibrating. At this point, we decided to get the RDI Technologies Inc.'s IRIS M™ Camera out to visualise the vibration problem. 📈 We filtered the videos to the running speed of the drive (40Hz) and were amazed to see the infeed structure, walkway, and guard rails all vibrating at 40Hz. Levels were between 10-100mm/sec! At this point, we suspected a resonance problem and decided to do a Transient run-up on the infeed structure. We noted two clear resonances at 32Hz and 42Hz, both in the operating speed range of the press. Next, we did a quick bump test on the structure with the machine off and confirmed the two natural frequencies at 32Hz and 42Hz. All the camera footage and tests were done within 30 minutes. The client was very happy, especially with the MA videos, which are so powerful in cases like this." 📚 See the comments below for links to supporting resources, or contact the team directly at: [email protected]. #ConditionMonitoring #MotionAmplification #VibrationAnalysis #PrintingIndustry #SpeedtoInsight #MAMonday
