    🌸 "Conversations of Possibility" 🌸 What a beautiful phrase that truly captures the spirit of what lights me up and sparks the various innovations at MelEos Group. And until this morning, I hadn't heard it before. It perfectly encapsulates a passion for exploring new horizons and the transformative power of meaningful dialogue. Today, I had the pleasure of catching up with my friend, Wendy Keneipp of Q4intelligence, LLC. We shared personal and professional challenges and the growth that came through those challenges; we laughed, and we ideated. "Ideated" – a word I often use, but today Wendy introduced me to the phrase "conversations of possibility." I love this phrase and it instantly got my mind going! To ignite personal empowerment, foster connection and community, and lay the foundation for ethical collaboration, we must have “Conversations of Possibility.” For me, it’s a refreshing reframe from the familiar systems thinking and Lean Six Sigma "Current State" vs. "Future State" and DMAIC/DMADOV language. It aligns with the spirit in which I strive to live both personally and professionally. Wendy, thank you!     Deductive reasoning applied to prospecting/marketing/selling. 1. You’ll never achieve exceptional results w/o first embracing a process. 2. Most producers fight against following a process, believing they are better off winging it. 3. Because the prevailing prospecting/marketing/sales attempts in our industry focus on getting quotes, promising better service, and showing off a capabilities presentation, most aren't aware of their incompetence or, more accurately, their lack of competitive advantage. 4. Conclusion - Most agencies and producers will continue to operate from a position of an unknowing disadvantage. I was on a coaching call with an agency owner/ producer. Our conversation was focused on prospecting and selling activities. He was frustrated with the recent poor results from his prospecting efforts in particular. We talked about the prospecting process/sequence we had worked on, and he admitted to having wandered away from it; he had grown bored. I reminded him about the need to follow a process to get to a place where our efforts and results become much more automatic. As we work to move from not being very good at something to excelling, there are four stages through which we move. Unconsciously incompetent – In our industry, there is an almost blind faith belief that a spreadsheet, promises of better service, and a capabilities presentation are adequate. Add in the fact that most producers don’t track their conversion and close ratios; most producers don't realize how much this approach sucks. Incompetent may be a bit harsh here, but at this level, you definitely have no competitive advantage. Consciously incompetent—Many reach this level after losing an opportunity to a better salesperson. You know they’re better because you have at least as many, if not more, resources than the person who beat you. Other times, you reach this after being exposed to sales training or hearing a presentation that makes it clear there is a better way to prospect and market than you are following. Consciously competent - Those who decide they are tired of competing without an advantage realize that having a prospecting and sales process to follow is the foundation of that advantage. A process allows for repetition and for the skill to be engrained; it's what creates muscle memory. The key is to fight against boredom, repetition, and rigidity, which is an early component of mastering a process. Unconsciously competent – This likely describes every over-the-top successful salesperson you know. They may make it seem effortless, but you can’t get here without a previous commitment to a process. The beautifully ironic reality is that now you can leave any rigidity of the process behind. You own the ideas and results the process delivered but can now personalize and get there your own unique way. Processes, when practiced, become the muscle memory that drives frequent moments of sales brilliance. Q4intelligence, LLC #GooseYourUltimateWingman
