Delve into our interactive “Live Emotion” gallery to explore some of the most iconic venues across sport, live performances and other major global events from the past 40 years. Our unique design history has acted as the backdrop for much bigger stories and moments — those of community, sustainability and passion — for four decades and counting. As we commemorate this milestone, we want to say thank you and celebrate with you, the individuals across the world who fill these venues with the emotion that gives them meaning. WHAT A GAME CHANGER As the Paris 2024 Paralympics get under way, now feels like an appropriate moment to reflect on the immense amount of work that @Populous undertook for what has been a historic Games of firsts. The first Games in modern Olympic history to host an opening ceremony outside of a stadium. The first Olympics to achieve full gender parity in the number of male and female athletes. And the first Games to anticipate and monitor carbon emissions, implementing comprehensive measures to reduce them. These reduction strategies began with the 2016 submission of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Candidature Bid, which envisioned an Olympic Park spanning the entire city, making use of temporary and existing venues for 95 percent of the total venues, drastically reducing the need to construct new facilities. Over the eight years following the bid and leading up to the Games, our specialist Events group and our team in Paris worked closely with the Paris Organising Committee’s V&I and EDE Teams, overseeing the design of several iconic venues within the Île-de-France region and all seven football venues for the Games. We at Populous are excited to see the impact of these strategies and proud to have contributed to a more inclusive and sustainable future for the Olympics and large-scale sporting events. Well done COjO Paris 2024 for this fine Games. It has been a pleasure being on your side.

Designed by Populous in partnership with Paris-based architects Oualalou + Choi, the spectacular 115,000-capacity Stade Hassan II in Casablanca, Morocco, will be the largest football stadium in the world.   This iconic stadium will be fully compliant for all FIFA competitions, with the ability to host the final at the FIFA World Cup 2030, following Morocco’s naming as joint hosts for the tournament alongside Spain and Portugal. It will also serve as the home of two local clubs.   Its striking design draws inspiration from the traditional social gathering of Morocco known as a ‘moussem’. The vast stadium bowl and a series of lush botanic gardens are set under a grand tented roof made from a unique aluminium lattice, that emerges as a dramatic intervention in the forested landscape.   Read more about the project:  https://lnkd.in/esNkFeA2
