About us
Politics4Her is an intersectional feminist platform & global youth-led movement advocating for the inclusive participation of young women and girls in politics, civil society, and decision-making processes. Politics4Her is a movement driven by the belief that young women and girls hold the power to create a more equitable and just world. Our platform is a place where every girl and woman can be heard, valued and recognized as an agent of change. We are driven by the conviction that intersectional feminism is not just a theory, but a powerful tool for dismantling systems of oppression and creating a world where every individual can flourish. We recognize the challenges that young women and girls face when it comes to accessing political power and leadership roles, and we are committed to breaking down those barriers by providing them with the resources, skills, and networks and develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive as agents of change. What makes Politics4Her so special is its commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusivity in all aspects of its work. At the heart of Politics4Her's mission is the belief that everyone deserves a seat at the table and a voice in shaping the policies and decisions that affect their lives. By promoting gender equality, intersectionality, and social justice, Politics4Her seeks to create a more equitable and inclusive world for all.

As a North African, it's rare to see representation at the highest levels, especially in male-dominated sports. When we do, the scrutiny and attacks can be ruthless. The recent situation with Imane Khelif, an Algerian boxer, is a perfect example of this. After winning against Italian boxer Angela Carini, Imane faced a barrage of misogynistic and transphobic hate, even though she is not a trans woman. Such misunderstandings stem from ignorance about intersex conditions and the effects of naturally occurring testosterone levels. In Algeria, like many parts of the region, LGBTQIA+ identities are criminalized, and transitioning is not possible. The false accusations against Imane highlight a broader issue of how media and public perceptions can be tainted with misinformation and bigotry. Women with conditions like PCOS also have higher testosterone levels, which can affect their appearance and athletic performance. Yet, they are often unfairly targeted, unlike their male counterparts who are celebrated for their natural physical advantages. In another a recent case, Egyptian boxer Youmna Ayyad missed her weight category at the Olympics because of "physiological and hormonal changes," which the Egyptian Olympic Committee explained as natural changes in her body, likely related to her menstrual cycle. These situations illustrate how sports are not always sensitive to the natural variations in female athletes' bodies, such as changes in weight and hormonal levels. Even with gender parity in participation at the Olympics this year, sports often remain influenced by patriarchal standards, not fully accommodating the unique aspects of women's health and bodies. This pattern of discrimination has happened many times to brown and Black athletes who do not fit the colonial and Western-centric standards of what a body should look like. These athletes are often penalized for their natural physical attributes, deemed too muscular, too strong, or not feminine enough. Such biased standards perpetuate systemic exclusion and marginalization, reflecting deep-seated prejudices. To those spreading misinformation and displaying bigotry under the guise of feminism or gender equality, I urge you to educate yourself about the complexities of intersex conditions and the realities faced by women in our region. It's so unfair to see such harsh treatment based on ignorance and prejudice.

Obstetric violence isn't just a personal tragedy , it's a global health crisis affecting millions of women. This form of gender-based violence during pregnancy and childbirth has severe consequences, including higher risks of postpartum depression and PTSD. The disparities in maternal care, especially for marginalized communities, reveal systemic injustices that need urgent attention. Let's push for comprehensive legal protections, mandatory respectful care training for healthcare providers, and increased research funding. Your voice matters. Share, support, and stand up against obstetric violence to ensure every woman receives the dignity and care she deserves. #Politics4Her #EndObstetricViolence #RespectfulMaternityCare #HumanRights #WomenRights

Kenya has the world's 3rd largest HIV/AIDS epidemic. In 2022, Homabay had the highest prevalence rate at 16.2%, 4 times the national average. Gender inequality is responsible for fueling the HIV epidemic. HIV and gender inequality are linked through: S/GBV, Education and Poverty, and Gender Norms and Stereotypes. In Homabay, this is the triple threat that blocks young girls from accessing a bright future. Join us on the 31st of August as we hold panel discussions on how we can break this triple threat barrier for women and young girls in Kenya. #politics4her #politics4herafrica #endthestigma #HIV #AIDS #webinar #breakingbarriers #breakingthestigma #kenyanwomen #womenempowerment ACTIVATE ACTION
