Polish-American Medical Society in Chicago

Dear Members and Friends,   We are proud to announce that the Polish American Medical Society has become a partner of MIRCIM (McMaster International Review Course in Internal Medicine). MIRCIM Conferences are an annual event taking place in Krakow, Poland. They gather thousands of physicians, residents, and students from around the world. The Conferences are not only meetings of specialists sharing their up-to-date medical knowledge. Ongoing symposiums serve as perfect occasions to meet new friends, exchange experiences, and establish longstanding relationships. MIRCIM has been developed by the McMaster University Department of Medicine (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) and the Polish Institute for Evidence Based Medicine. It is organized in collaboration with the European Federation of Internal Medicine, the International Society of Internal Medicine, and the Jagiellonian University Medical College, under the umbrella of the American College of Physicians. One of the most important events during MIRCIM is the Best Case Report Contest (BCRC). It has been developed to encourage young medical professionals from all over the world to share their most interesting and intriguing cases and patient encounters. BCRC is a contest for internists, family practitioners, and medical specialists up to 35 years of age or senior trainees in the last two years of training. According to the rules, the Polish American Medical Society can endorse a total of 10 case reports for the contest. It means that 10 selected interesting and highly educational reports will be presented during MIRCIM 2023 by our young medical professionals. The majority of costs related to the Conference along with accommodations will be covered. The Polish American Medical Society has opened its application procedures to all students who are applying for our scholarship. The deadline for submitting applications for the Annual Academic Scholarships is March 30, 2024.   PAMS awards over a dozen academic scholarships every year to students of Polish origin from the Chicago area who are studying medicine, dentistry, or veterinary medicine at universities in the USA or in Poland. Students are assessed based on their academic performance (GPA over 3.0), scientific achievements, interests, and participation in the Polish community.   Acquiring funds to finance these scholarships is the most important mission of the Polish American Medical Society. The main event organized for this purpose is the Charity Physicians’ Ball, which has been held every year for over 70 years! In recognition of this tradition, PAMS receives donations for the scholarship fund from businesses, organizations, and individual donors. Efforts to sustain this fundraising activity rest on the shoulders of successive Presidents and the Board of Directors of PAMS.   Many former PAMS scholars are already specialists in various fields; they serve the Polish community and are continually active in the initiatives of PAMS. There are numerous examples of joint activities of Polish doctors who provide reliable scientific information and medical care to our community.   We hope that the next students who will receive scholarships from the Polish American Medical Society this year will also cooperate with us and be inspired by many years of PAMS successful activities and endeavors.
