UOM - 2nd Green Week
In anticipation of Earth Day, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Montenegro organized a series of activities focused on environmental protection from April 21 to 25, under the unique name 'Green Week.' Numerous scientific and professional studies show that traffic safety and air quality, resulting from the functioning of the transport sector, are among the biggest challenges in Montenegro. Therefore, the starting point for the implementation of activities was goal 11 'Sustainable Cities an Communities,' defined within the global strategic approach 'Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,' which emphasizes the need to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. In light of these facts, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation, initiated the 1st educational forum - Youth and Road Traffic Safety. The main goal of the educational forum is to draw attention to the fatalities of young people in traffic accidents in Montenegro. The reason for this is the data indicating that every year, on average, around 30 young people die in traffic accidents in Montenegro. Therefore, the educational forum represents an important step toward raising awareness among young people about traffic safety issues. During the five-day Green Week, educational forums were held at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and at the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro in Podgorica, as well as at the Delfin Driving School in Kotor.
