GRADUATE STUDENT OPPORTUNITY🚨 Meyerhoff Graduate Fellows Program The goal of the program is to increase the number of students who receive their Ph.D. in the biomedical and behavioral sciences and who are interested in the advancement of underrepresented minorities in the sciences, particularly at the graduate level. Students do not apply for the Meyerhoff Graduate Fellowship. Once you have been accepted in to a participating Ph.D. program, you are recommended for the fellowship by the department. She’s in the field for destructive tree sampling at Mississippi State University’s Department of Forestry during her internship with the EMFRAF (Ecology and Management for Resilient and Adapted Forest) program! Awesome work! Students at this REU site partner with faculty mentors to conduct research that, broadly, identifies best management practices for managing resilient forest ecosystems that produce multiple ecosystem services in the southeastern United States. September's #PathwaysToScience Student Spotlight is for...🥁... Philomina Ekezie! Philomina's research project pushed the boundaries of AI by combining Subject Detection and Action Recognition. In Philomina's words: "My mentor and I aimed to design a computer model capable of watching short video sequences of tennis players and accurately identifying both the player and their actions. By the end of the summer, our model achieved an accuracy level of over 60%!" This is a remarkable achievement, demonstrating Philomina's dedication and the incredible potential of AI in sports analysis and beyond.
