Low Carbon Spotlight! Have you heard about Carbon Upcycling Technologies? Oxy invested in Carbon Upcycling as part of our strategy to help accelerate CCUS technologies. Carbon Upcycling has pioneered a technology that captures and utilizes CO2 to create enhanced concrete materials with up to 60% reduction in carbon emissions with improved strength and durability. To date, Carbon Upcycling has deployed more than 3,000 tonnes of low-carbon cement in slabs, roads and foundations. And now, the company is building its first-of-a-kind commercial system at one of Canada's largest cement plants. Chase Melancon said the plant’s safety track record is one of his favorite things about working there. "We lead the industry with our stringent environmental and safety procedures, and I live and breathe our safety culture every day," he said. "Our goal for every neighbor is to not only know who we are and what we do, but that safety is our number one priority." #BICMagazine #safety #OxyChem Oxy

For #HungerActionMonth, Oxy teams were out in force in our communities volunteering with our food bank partners to help fight food insecurity. And it was a record year! With over 245 volunteers and 10 food bank partners we packed and donated over 100,000 pounds of food and provided over 24,000 meals. Oxy volunteers also prepared 100 garden beds for growing fresh fruits and vegetables to help our communities thrive! #CommitToGood

Last month, we hosted a live conversation at Ion Houston with Vicki Hollub, CEO of Oxy. Oxy, a century-old oil and gas company with over 12,000 employees and a market cap near $50 billion, has emerged as arguably the early market leader in Direct Air Capture (DAC) through its 1PointFive initiative and 2023 acquisition of Carbon EngineeringCody and Vicki cover a lot of ground. Vicki acknowledges climate change and its effects on extreme weather and natural ecosystems, while also stating that Oxy does not view the energy transition as a shift away from oil and gas. Instead, she describes a future where oil and gas exploration could become carbon-negative through advancements in enhanced oil recovery (EOR), a technology that uses CO₂ to extract fossil fuels from otherwise depleted wells. This is a notable interview for MCJ as Vicki is the first oil and gas CEO we've had on the show. We believe it’s important to understand how a company like Oxy, with its significant greenhouse gas emissions footprint, is planning for the future. Listen to the full conversation at the link below.
